The source gave Lil' Kim Naked Truth 5 mics.

Pass.

Lil Kim and her Manager (female) were fucking Dave Mays and Zno...also 5 Mics were supposed to go to Little Brother for The Minstrel Show...and I think 3.5 for Young Jeezy...since Kim was getting 5 and LB and Kim were on same label they didnt want two albums from the same label in the same issue getting 5 Mics and ZNO felt the reviewers were shitting on Jeezy and overrating Little Brother he changed the mic ratings.

Fayemm Ratcliff (spelling) EIC of The Source resigned over that.

She sucked dick to get that rating.. plus, The Source was more credible in the 90s..

And the initial ratings of The Infamous and OB4CL were 4.5 Mics, but The Source later revised their rating to 5 Mics in 2002, along with MATW, The Chronic, Death Certificate and several other albums..

Only built for O.B.F.C.L is a close second. Timeless albums that I still play from time to time.

Damn 95 was flooded with crack. All them joints solid. I cant even pick one but I would narrow it down to Me Against the World, E 1999 Eternal, and The Infamous in no order. OB4CL and Dogg Food close enough to make the top 3.

DJ UNEEK is one of the most slept on producers of that era.. E 1999 Eternal is most def a classic, and my personal favorite.. yes I am biased

No love for Nine? I'm bumping that album right now

lol Ok, let's not get crazy now. Not every album that came out in 95 needs to be mentioned here.

lol c'mon man, Nine Livez is definitely slept-on. I won't go as far as to call it a masterpiece like OB4CL or Infamous, but it's definitely a under-rated gem.

Big L still remains underrated. Keep in mind he used the Debarge sample on MVP before Biggie. If Biggie's producer didn't use the sample for the One More Chance remix, L's album would've been a lot more popular in '95.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with liking the album. I liked the single. I'm just saying that with the choices listed in the poll not to mention a lot of the snuffs, an album like Nine Livez doesn't even even warrant naming. That's just how good rap was back then.

haha good point, but even lesser-known rappers have to get their props too, right? It seems that whenever we look back on the Golden Age of hip hop (mid-80s to mid-90s), we tend to just focus on the legends and the masterpieces. Which is well-deserved no doubt, but offers only a glimpse of what an era was like. I wouldn't put Nine on the same page as Nas or Raekwon, but I'd put him somewhere in the same book, lol maybe the appendix or some shit
