Damn, I was the only nigga back then on my block fucking with Purple Tape.

My cousin from NY came down and played that shit thru out the summer.

Man, summer '95 was dope.

MATW was popping, too. RL discussion not too many know about the Purple Tape.

How old are you b?

28

You are an ally, despite your trolling about Banks.

TBH, I think you and DMT know more than me.

Y'all niggas know y'all stuff.

I don't know shit about rap, I'm just a French Montana fan.

This thread is gonna have me bumpin Smif-n-Wessun for the rest of the week. Man BCC was too tough.

Most underrated crew of all time.

I had to flag you for that.

And co-sign about Smif-N-Wessun.

It's almost unfair to the other albums in the list that you included the purple tape...it's a masterpiece

Most of the other albums listed are classics in my opinion....

The Big L album is probably the most slept on & underrated out of everything listed though

Big L album was decent.

It sounded more like a gritty demo tape.

Herb McGruff's demo tape sounds almost identical. No lie

McGruff's dope but I wouldn't go that far, obvious influence on each other from rapping in the same group...

Sonically one could argue that all D.I.T.C. releases had that same gritty sound at that time

Can't go wrong with any really. A bunch of great albums from all over. Here are a few that come to mind that weren't listed and deserve some recognition:

Kool G Rap-4,5,6

Mic Geronimo-The Natural

Three Six Mafia-Mystic Stylez

Brotha Lynch Hung-Season of da Siccness

The Pharcyde-Labcabincalifornia

Showbiz & A.G.-Goodfellas

Too many to name.

You're right.

But Big L had no ranges or versatility as an artist.

Sorry to sound like Usmarin3 but he's right about that aspect of making albums.

and infamous

93-98 still d best years of hiphop, always brings back a grimey good feeling when listening back.

I know I'm in the minority but I like Rude Awakening more than Dah Shinin. That's an underrated album.

I still bump Won on Won and Spanish Harlem but I think that Dah Shinin is the better of the two.

Can't forget Black Trump

I truly wonder if there's any song on OB4CL, or on any rap album whatsoever, that can haunt me as much as this song does. Shook Ones Pt II has to be the most menacing song I've heard.....damn, talk about being shook

And your right on that...

Hence why I said it was underrated and slept on...not a classic in anyway
