Best Album From 2013

So Section 80 really won the poll for best album of 2011?

Most of them didnt even listen to it in 2011.

Hell that got to do with it? A lot of posters on this site werent even alive for the years that the T/S started with. They cant vote?

2011 was 3 years ago. Not 15 or even 7 years ago. Alot of them were old enough to not be revisionists on a mixtape that nobody on the IC was discussing whdn it came out. Great mixtape but realistically not in the discussion until after Kendricks first true album "GKMC"

Voting for that is pretty much the equivalent of Riddler msking album of the year thread in 2004 and having "Power of the Dollar" by 50 Cent for whatever year it came out and winning it for that year.

I feel a good 40% of the people voting at times are "prisoners of the moment". Thats all. No hate. Just observing @Stew

Similar to when Jay said "Reasonable Doubt classic should of went triple" and everyone went with it...IMO RD is a classic but not everyone viewed it as such it was given greater stature after that line from BP.

Niggas was calling section 80 a great album before gkmc y'all just hate Kendrick. Well nujerz do.. It was always acclaimed album . On the IC and and other places. It wasn't just hyped cuz you had 3 crazy hyped albums around the time it came our, wtt, c4, sideline story and take care

Never been to The Essence. When I discuss hip hop I go to The Reason. Im sure theyre probably having heavy discussions on French hip hop n bboying, doesnt maks it relevant on the main forum section of hip hop boards known as The Reason.

B4 you try to twist that Im not saying only The Reason is relevant .. But its the most relevant in terms of current hip hip discussion.

Ok look at it this way. New artist from California that really nobody outside of that region knew about unless you were heavily in the underground game until Dr. Dre gave him a stamp of approval. Even then It was just Dre's word, so that alone gives him brand new listeners. People like to call it an album but in all reality it wasnt marketed that way nor was it shipped to stores across the country. The mixtape/album comes out, people catch on to it, spread the word, he gets new fans......Isnt that the way becoming a new artist works normally? He signs to Aftermath, puts out a great record, gets even more listeners who are like "who the fuck is this guy? Let me see what else he has" Its ok for it to be like that.

Some of yall are making it sound like niggas just became a Seahawks fan when they won the Super Bowl when the team has been around since the '70s, thats a bangwagon fan, not in this case.

I wasn't on this board when section 80 came out but before it did I was trying to put people(offline) on to him and also absoul. Soulo always been my favorite out of black hippy when I first got into the whole group but dudes were saying he was weak. Evensection 80 but when that damn swimming pools came out now he was the man and section 80 was a classic. I wasn't on the forum at that time so I'm not saying that's you guys but yeah I definitely did witness the bandwagon hop
