@R.D. that's how it works from what I've seen on this board.. nas makes a song, throws a few African references on it and BAM!, it's a classic and he has sooooo much substance..

Why am i even in this thread, it's so obvious everyone has their biases (including me), it's kind of pointless debating. Well, be back later to debate some more. lmfao

lets take a look at the GOATs of other Genres.

Bob Marley

Michael Jackson

Miles Davis

Marvin Gaye

Lennon

Jimi Hendrix

these Icons are never revered/highly regarded cuz of the Women they wuz married to, wealth or Sales. Its they MUSIC that touched the masses.

AG is dope but who is gone relate to that shit in 20yrs? Movin bricks, lucas shit? While u got Nas on some grown man talk. daughters, bye baby, queens story, accident murders, back when, cherry wine, trust, roses is real life shit. Brothers all over the world can easily relate to Nas struggles and social commentary.

Tony Montana,Frank Lucas,Pablo Escobar shit in 2010 is stupid.

In other genres there are no GOATS. Especially while they still are making music. GOATS is some retard thing rappers created to garner attention. Most of the people you named died early thats why they are know as great. Marvin went from political songs to taking his clothes off on stage. Don't just remember the highlights

You know the real rap gods, typical trap star turned rap star

These old heads got stories, the days they was kings

I pray secret indictments don't take away their dreams

You 16, you could do 20, come home young

Catch 20 years when you 40? Holmes, you're done

What have we become?
Rap stars from trap stars

Black gods to Ansars to Sunnis back to goonies

A 360 in the streets real grizzly

Shooters is cold, kid, the old shit was learning

Student enrollment, the focus, yet hooligans roll with

Toasters to pop your medullas off of your shoulders

This ain't the Truman Show; it's the human show

Ask the F.B.I. agent at his cubicle

Chewing on his pencil eraser with intents to erase you

It's U.S.A. against the gangsta, where's the love??

Jay aint spitting like this..

Nas tell the story from both sides.. Good and bad..

Jay only glorfy the street shit without speaking

on the down falls like jail or death..

"The irony of selling drugs is its sorta like im using it, guess its two sides to what substance abuse is"

Yo I heard American Gangster..

I had it on boot leg..

its a very good cd,

I think Roc Boys is one of the best crafted Jay song I've ever heard..

dude was spittin on that joint..

I can almost play the album all the way through..

I can appreciate Nas music without tearing down Jay at the same time..

I like both artist but I give Nas the slight edge..

Lol I can party to "Summer On Smash" when "Hello Brooklyn" comes on I lose all interest in everything going on. Mostly cause of the beat and Wayne

It was originally Wayne's song... and lol @ the bolded

Same thing he's always talkin bout....nothin

Truth tho.

How many people have lost people to the dope game?

How many people grew up without a father, having to learn things on their own?

How many people have seen corruption and injustice in the streets?

Roc boys is the climax of the album.. its the hustler @ his best..on top.. but from there it goes down til u get to Fallin.. if u cant see that, ur whole prospective is wack.. u took 2 totally opposite tracks and tried to compare them.. when Jay has deep songs on that album just like nas has celebration songs

Nas made a superior album at a time where hip hop needed it most.. Maybe Jay will get serious and put some hard work and grind into the same thing. i'm a fan of both artists, and hip hop needs more creativity, or we will just get a bunch more french montana's and skinny niggas with snapbacks....
