First off he a bitch for having to rely on an object to back up a threat of force. Nigga your a man. Just puffing your chest out to your chick should get the point across.

Secondly, there's never a good reason to hit or get really physical with your SO. Restraining them imo (and somewhat gently at that to avoid bruising) is the only decent means of putting your hands on your chick.
