so folks still trying deny Atlanta is the Mecca...lol even if you love other states music better those rappers in that state come to Atlanta to get their shit pushed.

This.

A 'mecca' is also a place where people travel to for greater knowledge

People come here to try and get on period.

Niggas aren't flocking to NY to get on anymore

A lot of y'all won't be able to see past your feelings though

Didn't the original boom bap beat come outta James Brown's music?

Was he from NY? Lol

So if going to mecca is for gaining greater knowledge about something right? Using what you're saying here. Someone from overseas wants to learn more about the hip hop culture and history. They going to go to Atlanta for that instead of New York? Y'all niggas continued inferiority complex got y'all saying some dumb ass shit right now

Using that logic if any overseas city hip hop music gets popular in the states that would be the 'Mecca' to you. So since drake is the biggest in the genre Toronto can be Mecca? We should all take cues from him n gain deeper knowledge of being too emotional about hoes we say we don't care about. Wtf is original boom bap beats? Nigga hip hop came from disco/funk in general. First boom bap beat is a big beat sample by run dmc. Fact. And u from Brooklyn hating on some typical south/north shit? Shame.

So ya'll can say this out loud with a straight face......

"If I want to study hip hop, i'm going to start with Atlanta Georgia"

Get beyond the fuck outta here.

Atlanta the mecca of hip hop???

It's always about where the sound is, not where it started. I couldn't tell you where rock & roll, country or pop music started in. But you can see the cities where those genres are made today and Atlanta is one of those places for hip hop. I always thought Mecca was the starting point so naming anything outside of NYC the "Mecca of hip hop" is wrong. Mecca doesn't mean most popping city.

How can you move roots? Every single person rapping today owes it to that party in the South Bronx. If I created a timeline or a graphic of important events concerning hip hop. Not just rap, but hip hop, as in the 4 elements. The Epicenter would unquestionably be NYC. And to be honest. Atlanta wouldn't even be second, that spot is reserved for Los Angeles, California. I can put it in IC subtitles so everybody understands.....

NYC>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>L.A.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Atlanta

Nobody cared about Atlanta until 1995. "The south got somethin to say". Yea nigga, cause to that point, nobody cared. Before then, the south had Rap A Lot, Suave House, And Luke. Atlanta was orphans out here. It was more classics made in NYC and LA before 95 than Atlanta has had in their whole hip hop career. Ya'll gotta cut the bullshit.

The "whose better" thing is subjective. Personal opinion neither here nor there. As far as output, success, influence and all that the A is on its own level. That doesnt mean other cities dont have great music but Atlanta plays in a different league than

People definitely feel some type of way about the A. People out here dont give a fck just keep going foward. Its a very unique mentality. Somehow people just go around obstacles if they come up and dont spend too much time worryin about or hatin on NY or LA or wherever...That said like I said I saw that K camp thing coming on when I tried to watch certain things and skipped it immediately. His opinion doesnt matter to me. Dont know why people feel so strong about it. He must have hit a mark in some way. I wouldnt personally use the word "mecca" but its the city the center of it.

Lol, y'all know NYC is the Hip Hop Mecca. Mane can't nobody take that from them. Let em have it.

It's definitely live outchea in the A tho music wise.

Boom Bap, 808's(Hip Hop), etc all from NY. James Brown is from the Carolinas as is a huge chunk of Black Americans in NY so you see the connection. Different regions always had their own taste pre dating Hip Hop.
