I think it's just like everybody else said, 400 Degreez came out in a completely different era. Bootlegging really wasn't a huge problem because not everybody had a c.d. burner on their computer. This was also before mp3 players and sites like Napster. In other words, if you wanted the album, you had to go to the store and physically buy a copy. Wayne probably does have a bigger fanbase now, than Juvie had at that time. But back then, it was more about who had the best music rather than who was the most popular. Most people had never heard of Juvenile prior to that album droppin. And I'm not tryin to start a "is 400 Degreez better than the Carter 3" debate, but will the Carter 3 have the same replay value as 400 Degreez, 12 years after it dropped?

And Mattee C hit it on the head with the last question!!!! We still run a 400 Degreez medley and they hit that shit verbatim...album cuts,no singles!!! Cats here moreless like 2 keep up with Wayne's new shit as it drops rather than hear C3,which more chicks liked than niggas did here in the N.O. based on feedback I got ...

All of this is true, the other stuff is debateable. In terms of the $ which loses value over time, Wayne 3.5M is far more than Juvie's 4-5M if you adjusted for inflation and all those other factors. Add the fact that Wayne is not a new artist & massive bootlegging in this era and its wouldnt take a genius to know that what Wayne did in 08 is more of an accomplishment than what Juvie did in 98. And what Juvie did in 98 was phenomenol. Only top artist were going that many times plat back then.

Keep the positive nature of this debate going...the points are good on both sides of the fence...*referee shrug* I'm glad niggas discussing New Orleans' artists again...

@E.F. Cuttin - Not to get off subject homie, but I got a question for ya. What ever happenned to Kenoe? You know the guy that used to produce for C-Murder and B.G. I remember he came out with an album, that was damn good by the way, and after that I don't remember hearin anything from him. His biggest record was probably C-Murder's "Down for My N*gg*z" ft. Snoop Dogg.

Niggas wasnt bootleggin as much as they do now. C3 was leaked like a million times.

Plus, it wasnt really the Juvie name that sold it was the Cash Money brand. 400 Degrees was a bonafied Hot Boy Album. Every single song from my memory (aside from maybe Ride With Me?) had a Hot Boy member on it. Almost all Cash Money albums had heavy features from the Cash Money clique. So it wasnt so much of Juvie having a stronger fanbase, its that every Cash Money fan bought it.

different times

Wayne had the best selling Rap Album of 08

one thing Juvie never did

both good rappers but the question is pointless

aint nobody selling like that now and the fact Wayne sold how he did makes it just as good as Juvie selling 4 mill in 98

plus bootlegging and the"leaks" from C3

I think "back that ass up" was the tipping point.. Cause females still go crazy when that junk comes on in the club

Cool. Good to hear he's still workin. His beat were always fire. It'd be tight to hear him work with some Houston artists. So TRU Records is still alive and well? I just made the assumption that with C-Murder currently unavailable that the label would be shut down or at least temporarily closed.
