Yeah...our contendness, our comfort, simple distractions in life etc is our weakness as a species...the mysteries and grandness of the universe, death etc, all the real shit that really matters...we think about it for a few moments and then we move on, get on the ps4 again, make a family, provide etc... humans have grand potential but dont live up to it...were not teaming up and going all in in this bitch.

The point of all exploration is either to acquire resources or knowledge. Once you can build a Dyson sphere you have no more energy needs and their knowledge would have surpassed ours hundreds of years ago.
The only legitimate reason such a civilization would deal with us at all would be to benevolently upgrade/uplift us.

Let's say it is something that has been made by an intelligent species, yes, obviously the light we are seeing from that through the telescope is old as fuck. Now, they could still be there, which probably isn't likely, so it could be an old civilization that was left behind. If we can get that as actual evidence, that would be amazing. Just knowing something other than us exists.
Of course, we would like to have 'first contact', but for that to happen, they need to come to us, not us to them, because by that time, they would've moved on.
