I have a question...what's the most disgusting story you've heard from one of your fellow nurses?

My instructor told us about a case of flesh eating disease she encountered. They tried to save the patient by amputating the affected limbs in surgery but it was so progressive that the patient just simply rotted away down to their muscles and bones while there. Skin peels and slides off in thick layers...while you're alive.

It can come from multiple sources...easy contraction from a compromised immune system, eating uncooked raw meats that aren't properly cleaned..shit, I've seen a case where a woman went ziplining and scraped herself on a tree...and got it that way. It's a weird and sad disease process.
