It was a very well plotted out way of showing you just how far gone he is.

It's funny how deathstroke talked about getting back to his family. But then started catching feelings for shadow completely forgetting about his wife. They got to explain this. It would be funny if green arrow smashed his wife in the past and deathstroke found out later on.
