The news came just after Comic-Con this year that The CW was considering developing a spinoff to their hit series "Arrow," focusing on another DC character, the Flash. Today it appears that they've found their leading man in Grant Gustin. Best known for guest starring in a few episodes of "Glee," Gustin will take on the role of Barry Allen in the series.

"I’m unbelievably excited," Gustin told The Hollywood Reporter. "I’ve been a lifelong fan of DC Comics, so I can’t be more honored and can’t wait to get started."

Gustin will appear as the character in the upcoming eighth, ninth, and 20th episodes of the new season of "Arrow," the last of which will serve as a potential backdoor pilot for his own series. The character will begin his appearances simply as a forensic scientist and will later gain his superspeed powers. Production on Gustin's debut episode is set to begin at the end of the month in Vancouver.

"Arrow" season 2 premieres on Wednesday, October 9th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Does he fit the role of Dr. Barry Allen?

I'm guessing that they're trying to please the fans of the LGBT community with this choice, dude looks gay as fuck but he could pull it off.

According to comic book lore, character works for the secret organization A.R.G.U.S. (Advanced Research Group United Support) and runs the Suicide Squad, which will be comprised this fall of Michael Rowe's Deadshot and the Bronze Tiger, who will be portrayed by Michael Jai White.

She was a wack replacement for naivia in Spartacus and ever since she took the role her character had my nigga Crixuis simpin for the last 2 seasons.

I didn't like her replacing the other Navia either but Crixuis was always simpin for her. LOL I think she did a better job being a warrior than the original chick would've though

I could understand them wanting arrow as he is now in the JL, (especially since they said him and Henry Cavill are friends in real llife) but this guy as flash?

Actually, now that I think about it, the old idea for a Supermax prison movie with green arrow would fit this version of Oliver Queen perfectly.

I've watched this whole season. the recap makes me realize how great this show is. it even has the Chinese banker from the dark knight. did Christopher noland have a hand in writing this show. this is the g.o.a.t superhero small screen show I've ever seen and I grew up in an era that gave us superboy, the flash, lois and clark.

Missed the whole first season. I just watched that Arrow Season 1 recap on the CW. God damn I missed out. I think it hit all of the important parts though. I feel bad for Tommy. Smash on Laurel too. I wonder what villains they gonna have this season.
