Idk if its major or not but on the last episode of Arrow, Ray was shot and suffered a blood clot. Felicity gave him this nanobot that he invented that could dissolve it. Maybe its a sign of shrinking tech that he working on or could the nanobots be a side effect to him being able to shrink?

If the spin-off show is true, I think we'll see Ray's true power showcased on that show instead of Arrow. Ray's personality is more suited towards the way the Flash is and the spin off show may be a reflection of that.
