Arkham Writer Not Returning for Next Game

Paul Dini won't be back for Rocksteady's next installment.

Paul Dini, the writer for both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, has revealed via his Twitter that he won't be returning for the recently announced prequel. In a post on July 27th, Dini said:

Kinda hoped I'd be doing another Arkham game in London during the Olympics. Esp, as I had a good source for tx.

Ah, well.

If the initial tweet didn't make it crystal clear, the team at ArkhamCity.co.uk went on to look through a series of Dini's tweets to absolutely confirm he won't be returning as the writer for the next Arkham game.

Dini seems a bit broken up over it as well, saying, "I wish I could, but it's not my call." Dini is responsible for not only penning the first two games, but also the beloved Batman: The Animated Series cartoon.

No word has been given about who will replace Dini on the next project.

That's ok. dini is great but he's a more modern age writer, not a silver age writer. There's plenty of good writers in comics who could do it. Dan jurgens and George perez come to mind.

BUt wasnt Arkham City and Arkham Asylum based on modern age batman???

Doesn't look like its off to a good start.. no Mark Hamill as Joker and no Paul Dini and introducing Justice League into the series while Im a fan they should have there own title.

I rather they stick with the Batman/Gotham Universe and incorporate Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman Huntress, Black Canary, The Creeper (Both Huntress and Creeper were mentioned in Arkham City dialogue) maybe even Batgirl more in the next game than say Superman or The Flash.

Jlu shoulda got its own game and keep arkham series the way it is. Cause grundy and croc didnt see very silver age to me...non of the villians did so why alter the formula
