And to make matters worse, he wanted to start a religion...
who do you think is qualified to start a new religion? ALL religions are man made (except catholic...which Christ started) but people are quick to accept a 'religion' started before they were born than one started since. Really all any other religion is is some person with a different translation. ANYBODY can have a different translation. That doesn't mean they are wrong about it. you either feel it or you don't. If you don't then start your own religion. Anybody can. it's not law against it. What the fuck do you believe? tell it and sell it.

Immo. Tech, KRS and Mos definitely are.....Nas is too on a certain level, but he's not as in-depth as the others...he's proven that many times....

still, Nasir is a conscious cat that has a gift for describing the socio-economic situation that surrounded him growing up like no one else....

Christ didn't start ANY religion...as far as the Catholic religion the Romans are responsible for that.

But I was explaining that to the other dude as to why I think KRS is a turn off to this generation...I respect KRS' lyrics and what he brought to the game since Criminal Minded, but...I'm not gonna follow that road with him...but if that's what he wants to do then let him.

Catholic tradition and doctrine holds that the Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ in the 1st century AD. The New Testament records Jesus's activities and teaching, his claims and personal death and resurrection, appointment of the twelve Apostles and his instructions to them to continue his work and teaching.[11][12] The Church teaches that the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles, an event known as Pentecost, signaled the beginning of the public ministry of the Church.[

Wow @ old fart...you actually believe THAT claim from Catholics?! C'mon son...

Christ didn't come here to start Christianity..you will find it NOWHERE in the Bible that Christ claimed he came to start a Catholic religion, a Protestant religion, a Mormon religion, a Lutheran religion, an Episcopal religion, etc....PERIOD.

KRS One is borderline wack and Nelly defeated him. Real Talk.
KRS can NEVER be wack nor did Nelly defeat him. If you really believe ANY of that then you don't know Hip Hop. KRS just doesn't believe in having some corn ball gimmick to get people to buy his joints.

Not trying to sway the topic but, St Paul is the true father of modern day christianity including Catholicism. No where in the NT did Jesus ever say he was changing the Law (of Moses) but all of a sudden after he's gone, here comes Paul claiming to have had a vision that Jesus basically told him to change the entire religion and disobey the "Law".

Jesus - "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.....Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven" Matt 5:17,19

Paul - "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but by faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified." Gal 2:16

Back to the topic - KRS is very educated. Nas and the rest are self teachers as far as I know but they are like scholars to most because most rappers today are dumb as rocks.

The church was started in Matthew 16 but it depends on how you translate that.

regardless, as far as my question about who exactly is qualitfied to start a religion, why do people readily accept the current religions but trip on a new one being started? Not saying I agree with whatever KRS says about it because I honestly have no idea what his translation is since I didn't read the book. I thought he was merely talking about Hip-Hop as a culture and not an actual 'religion'. I thought he just used the word religion to mean 'teachings'. There are things about our culture that many people don't really know about or understand and I thought his aim was to explain it to those people. But based on how people comment on it seems like I have it wrong. Apparently yall read the book and know better than me since I didn't read it at all. So now I'm curious what changes/translations did he discuss about an actual religion in regards to spiritually following in Christ? Can one of yall that know break it down?

Are we supposed to just accept what's being taught just because it's already been established before we were born and no one else is authorized to start a new one with new/different translations of the word? I'm just curious who people feel are qualified to start a new one and what would those qualifications be? Many religions have been started and people don't seem to question those too much. They just find one that connects with their own personal belief and roll with it. How is that different than yet a newer one being started with similar and different beliefs?
