With all that said, I'm reasonably proficient in French, Brazilian Portuguese, & Haitian Kreyol. I used to be much better but since I don't have access to those speakers regularly, it's harder to retain than my English.
Where do you live? You can find many place in the us with creole and portuguese speakers (mainly east coast)
DC. I've met some Kreyol speakers here, but not too many Portuguese speakers. Many non-English speakers here speak Spanish.
