yeah thats the song. there is a version with 3 verses and thats the one where he disses Nas. starts off something like "must i dust this fuck nas of the suface of the earth" or someshit i havent heard it in almost 9 years

^^^^^Am I the only one that sees the irony in Tompetrez knowing Jay-Z's bars but he displays hate for him every chance he gets ?

I think he was a fan in the early days. Reasonable Doubt era. My guess.

If Jay had taken his time after Ether and had come back with a entire diss song dedicated to Nas (no freestyle like Supa Ugly, no part diss like BP2), he would have won the battle, and Nas would be meaningless right now. Jay made one mistake after another once Ether dropped.

- rushing an answer to Ether and seeming desperate considering the wackness of Supa Ugly

- mumbling on the radio like a mental patient

- admitting he lost on BP2 (which i can respect but at the same time its a sign of weakness)

- like I said, not making a "real" answer, a whole diss song.

Just imagine Jay coming back with Takeover 2 one month after Ether. 48 bars dissing the shit out of Nas. It would have been a blowout.

This is the South of France thing. Skip to 2:10:

Thats not my point. What I was tryin to say is Jay had the battle in his hands and gave it away. It was his own fault. He could have handled Nas. A whole song like the last Takeover verse after Ether = Jay wins, Nas loses.

I guess he was too self-assured after Takeover. I was too young back then, but from what i understand after Takeover dropped not only Jay himself but the whole public thought Nas was finished. Maybe he believed that too and took it too easy and was shocked at the way that Nas came back at him. And thats when he lost control over the situation. He should have read the art of war.

That's what I think too. Im sure he didn't really expect an answer back from Nas and was more bracing himself for Mobb Deep but the opposite happen...Mobb got destroyed and it was Nas who was gonna retire from music cuz of his moms death that stepped up. I agree Jay jump the gun afterwards but I disagree with your solution in this sence. He spit so hard and already used alotta personals in Takeover so to say he shoulda did a takeover Pt 2 a month later, Im sure he woulda if he coulda except he mighta put all of his eggs in one basket with the first takeover. Maybe he just didn't have another power performance and based on what he came out with afterwards he just couldn't get over the hump of tryna top it so he had to stop it.
