Top 5 DOA

1. Tupac Shakur
2. Lauryn Hill
3. Jay-Z
4. Common
5. Twista

Why? Longevity, creativity, lyrical consistency, artistic integrety, content, and discography. He's a legend in my eyes.

I do.

Common has one of the best discographies in Hip Hop, puts on a dope live show, and has real content in his music.

He's never had to use Blackspoitation or Comic View punchlines as a crutch to get his point across and he a lyrical beast.

common has lyricism, a solid discography, can freestyle, has longevity. all of the qualities and intagibles u want in an exceptional emcee. so he would be in my top 10.......

If it werent for universal mind control. that bumped him down somewhere in my top 15.

I got him at #4 on my list.

I can actually appreciate UMC for being a change of pace. Fuck what you heard: 'Gladiator' is tough as shit and I like 'Changes'.

Plus, as far as I know, Be is the last album to become a universally respected classic.

Top 5 easy, anyone who doesn't put him there lost points in life and lost respect for their opinion on Hip Hop.

He's in my Top 5. The only weak albums he has in his catalogs are the albums when he was trying to be different. The same thing could be said about Mos Def, except Mos doesn't have Common's catalog. Be & Resurrection are classics; Finding Forever, Like Water For Chocolate, & One Day It'll All Make Sense are near classic. UMC, Electric Circus, & Can I Borrow A Dollar below average/different/eclectic.

Common is a great artist, but he isn't in my top 10, i just don't gravitate to his music as much as others. But, Be is among my top 5 favorite Hip-Hop albums from the 2000s.

In my personal top 12 alongside Canibus, Ras Kass, Chino XL, 2 Pac, Big Pun, Nas, Pharoahe Monch, Biggie, Royce da 5'9, Phonte, and Elzhi.

I don't view Common as boring, I have him in my top 10 easily.

God wordplay, concepts, etc.

Much better than most rappers that are popping right now.

Much better than Kanye IMO.

The only downfall of Common is he'll make a below average album every three albums (Universal Mind Control & Electric Circus)

He's very close to top 10 at my list. Maybe no.11 or 12. He's one of the best, most consistent lyricists in the game with one of the stongest discographies in genre. UMC was his only below average album to date.
