I went into NYC from my house in Staten Island with the hopes of getting into the WTT Pop Up Shop and perhaps seeing Jay-Z, Kanye West, Virgil or anyone. I was excited to finally just see the store after reading about it on Twitter, MTV, and KTT. I waited online for a few hours (from 7:30-10:30) and I was close to the entrance and I saw Jay-Z enter, Swizz, and Beyonce. The place was packed and the fire marshall came and actually limited the number of people that were allowed in.
The security allowed only VIP bracelet people, people on the list, and many models in to this store turned party basically. All of the fans and people there to the buy the CD were told to get out without having met Jay-Z or even gotten very close to him because he was in a closed off area. He wasn't performing songs but they had a DJ in there playing all sorts of hip-hop with the majority of the songs coming from WTT towards the end of the night.
I was trying to get in at one end talking to people who were on the list while my girlfriend and friend were talking to the driver of Jay-Z Maybach who had let a few other people in but very discretely but she however saw. So after going up to him and chatting with him she finds out that his name is Ramero and he is Jay-Z personal driver. It's all really neat and then she asks if he can get us in and he is basically moving in slow motion which bothered me because I knew based on what security was saying that Jay wouldn't be there much longer.. especially since Beyonce left. Anyway long story made a little shorter.. she slipped him $20 which Im sure is like nothing for this man and he gets us right in. We walk in and there are maybe 40-45 people in there. Real small. Free Drinks. Copies of the CD for purchase. And of course Swizz Beatz and Jay-Z just chilling talking to a bunch of people. Laughing and having a good time in a well lit (low wtt music) venue with the iconic Otis Maybach and the Otis video playing on rerun in the back.
Talking to Jay-Z was like a dream come true. He was such a cool and nice guy and no homo his voice was perfect. Exactly how I hear it on videos or songs. I even said that he sounds better in person because I was star struck basically and decided to say dumb ****. He's like "what I sound better in person?" I was just like it's nice to hear your voice or something stupid like that. We got 3 CDs signed with someones borrowed silver sharpie and he wasn't doing photos but I didn't ask I overheard him politely tell some people "not tonight."
Swizz Beatz was also really cool. Much cooler looking in person. Still got a big nose but he can't help it. He was just real nice and signed everything we asked.. 3 CDs. Although we bought the CDs there because we forgot ours in the car and I couldn't rip the package off the 3rd one for my friend so Jay was like "i'll sign it anywhere. now you just have to buy another so you could open the cd up and listen to it" lol i thought that was funny because he signed the outside plastic. Felt bad for her so I gave her an extra copy since she got the not so nice autograph. I told Swizz I loved Murder and Welcome to the Jungle. Then he was like "oh yeah? welcome to the jungle." It sounded cool but not like the CD obviously haha. I ended up calling him Mr. Swizz Beatz (again because I was star struck to get his attention to sign the other 2 copies before he left. It worked)
And they left at around 11 maybe a little after and we got a couple of pics in the maybach before getting yelled at for sitting in it. It was really neat though and Im glad I went and met everyone especially Ramero.
If you have any questions Id be happy to answer. But photos below. Sorry for the long post but I didn't know how to shorten how I could describe just about the greatest night of my life!!!
