See, I have a problem with the whole "Dre has more to prove" mentality...

He been in the game for what, 17 years? Elite rappers recognize him as such. Scarface recognized him as the best to come out the south. He has 3 classics under his belt. In terms of technical skills there's really no one better than him (as good, Ill give a couple artists that). He's more creative than damn near anybody that's picked up a mic. He's one of the most versatile artists hip hop has ever seen. And even with all that, people wanna knock him cuz he was in a group. I mean, niggas still look for a Dre feature whenever they can get one. Drake, Chris Brown, whoever...Who's askin for a Big Boi feature nowadays? I mean come on

To say that 3000 is one of the greatest without a solo career is disrespectful to everyone who had a successful solo career, as far as classics and content are concerned. Andre did only HALF the work while a soloist did 100% of the work. Considering Outkast as a duo in the greatest of all-time is fine. I actually do consider them to make a strong case as a duo. As solo acts, no. Andre 3000 needs a solo catalog to prove it. So what if he "stands out more" like some of you say? The point is, Big Boi was there too and it is disrespectful to consider Andre, even though Big Boi has gotten the best of Andre in some verses and lately and this was before Idlewild. Even more hilarious, I'd put Cee-Lo over Andre not only because he has the solo, but he executes what Andre tries to be better than Andre. With that said, Outkast top 10...yes. Listen to the first 4 Outkast albums and then you know why he is a top 5 lyricist. There are just a few groups in hip hop that have constantly dropped such high quality music. It is possible to judge each members individual talent in a group and to compare it with others from the genre.

His last rap verse was on Royal Flush with Raekwon and Big Boi on the track and it was one of the best that year. Someone who is able to do that is also able to drop a hot solo album. Black Thought also never dropped a solo album, but he is def Top10 because of his music contributions with The Roots.

For me he is top 5 all-time lyricist...but thats a matter of opinion.
