Thanks to term limits, though, they’ve got little to fear.

Out of that whole thing this is the most important sentence. The lame duck term is where most of the damage is caused. It's a security blanket, similar to tenure for teachers and professors.

Truth be told though most presidents probably wouldn't survive a third or fourth term. Nothing ages a muhfucka quicker than stress, and the job of president is stressful as hell.

If I remember correctly, gas prices didn't spike significantly until Hurricane Katrina hit.

That was 8 years ago and they haven't come back down since.
