An Idea on Banning powers

i think we got a great level headed crew of mods, i highly doubt any one of us will become crazy with banning like previous mods. we all seem more mature now and calm.

no diss to the newer mods but they shouldn get them yet..just a precaution of them being hacked/phished or whatever..gotta see what type of mod they will be first.

but older posters like sthrncomfort, ms.s, Wall, Toox, Zero and myself..and jam i think (how long has jamaca been here?) should be allowed to ban. we are all very active mods of the rooms with most traffic.

I've been on this site since 2003 and been a mod before for a long ass time. I know how to handle my banning powers (hell, all my mod powers) and jay and bird should realize this.. Like sthrn said, give them to everybody and see how it goes or just give them to me and that'll be fine too :0

Hey yall, we will work on this. We just don't want newer mods, or any mods for that matter, abusing the banning power. All that will happen is I will get flooded with requests to unban people, lol. So I want to make sure banning is the last resort and used in the extreme cases. Not doubting anyone's judgement here, so we will work this out because the points are valid about having someone ready to defend at all times.

I'm cool with giving another mod banning powers if necessary...

but the idea of each room having someone able to ban's not gonna work. all that's gonna happen is, a person's gonna get banned in the Reason, and beg a G&S or Donkey mod to unban'em, and then you're right back at where you were before.

not to mention...someone in this very thread (me included :td), is probably gonna get hacked sooner or later...

well let them beg, i know if you banned someone. and then they hit me up begging to be unbanned..i wouldnt go for it, if another mod banned them then thats their business. unless it was on some power-hungry bs...

If a mod ban someone I think it's wrong for another mod to un ban them that's undermining their authority.

I dont see a problem with most of the mods having banning powers.

I understand everyone's point, however, as Jay said, when your a mod your under attack for hacking and phishings more often than just regular posters. I dont know if any of you remember when Diamond86 or something got hacked, OD had giving her admin powers and the end result was forums and threads being merged, mass bannings. Shit was not pretty it took me almost 4 days to get everything cleaned up. Until we actually get back on the right path and get settled in I think the IP Ban thread for Greg is a good idea, and if you see a poster that needs to be banned for anything dont forget you can report thier post and for your message just state why they need to be banned. It sends Jay and I a email request with the link to the post/thread and shows us the reason you want it done.

I finally got my laptop back on Friday, so I know i'll be on the boards more at night now and on the weekends.

I actually was gonna get with Jay today to talk about him.

He seems to walk that thin line, he knows damn well he's over threading the rooms, but he always makes his threads within the set boundries. I started to ban him the other day but I didnt want him to run to Greg and me not have a valid reason for doing it.
