Am I Racist?

I play devil advocate.. you have shit loads of wack ass rappers that from a lyrical and technical aspect get put on. The only way a white or even latino mc can get noticed in the first place is be "super technical/lyrical":

You don't see many white French Montana, Gucci Mane, Wacka Flocka with any mainstream success.

Riff Raff come close and we all know he's a fucking joke.

this thread is about as dumb as it gets....it's like saying theres no great blacks in rock n roll history

jimi hendrix being a one hit wonder

But blacks are a minority so it would make sense that there's less blacks in rock n roll.

But when you reverse it, it doesn't make sense. Whites are in the majority so why aren't there more good white rappers?

because they are doing other types of music?

2 other good white rappers: Fort Minor and G-Eazy

I don't think your thoughts are racist.

I do think you're assuming the same distribution of "rap talent" and "rap interest" among the white population and the black population, and I'm not sure that's true. (Of course this statement I just made might be racist.)

The issue with your statistics is you can make the same structural argument for any skill. Example:

"Whites are 73% of the population, and they own most NBA teams, and most NBA execs are white, why aren't there more white basketball players."

It might be EASIER for a white rapper to blow up because they stand out more, but there's also fewer white people that go into rap.

You say Fort Minor and G-Eazy are good white rappers. But nobody has heard of them. I'm talking about legendary rappers. I'm talking about the kind of rappers that, if you wrote a history book about rap, you'd have to include them. In the past 35 years that rap has been around, the only white rap acts I consider of being noted in a rap history book are;

1. Rick Rubin

2. The Beastie Boys

3. Vanilla Ice

4. Eminem

5. Mackelmore (even though I've never really listened to him)

And I didn't forget 3rd Bass, Everlast or Insane Clown Posse, I just don't think they're worthy of being mentioned.

My point is that in 35 years, you would think there would be more noteworthy white rappers

So this goes against the arguement of the "takeover"

They're trying to "Takeover" but they don't have any good white rappers to put in the spotlight. White people could have and should have taken over rap along time ago. Its kinda strange that after all these years, white people can't even build up a strawman and prop him up to be The GOAT.

Well, I guess they built up Eminem, but you'd think there would be more, much more. Like dozens of white rappers that have hits.

It's because most of that number is in or from middle America and they want no parts of that urban Hip Hop or rap music that attracts "you people" ...... they're doing just fine with country, rock, pop, dance, techno, gospel, talk radio ....... Yanni & Kenny G
