Where I'm from we have national health standards which are considered a part of civic duty like Americans pay taxes (but without the greedy multi-national banking cartels).

* We don't consume caffeine, refined or white) flours and sugars, pharmaceuticals, street drugs, nicotine, hard liqour and beer. However we do make our own wines, free from sulfates and fermented naturally from such items as honey, mango, watermelon, ginger etc.

* We have national Sugarless Weeks and Live Foods Weeks. These occur in a quarterly cycle beginning with the Hebraic New Year, which is always in the Spring. During Sugarless weeks, we abstain from all foods containing a sweetening agent or the agents themselves with exception of agave nectar, grade "b" organic maple syrup or green stevia. During Live Week, we only eat raw vegan dishes. These quarterly cycles are in unison with seasonal changes. Example of some live (raw) vegan food preperation by lovely sister Zahkah:

raw cashew cheese -FIRE!

* We generally don't drink cold water as studies have shown that you can drink more water and assimilate it into your body easier if you drink it room temperature.

* In our custom we dont eat and drink simultaneously. Studies have shown that this prevent indigestion, gas and other digestive dis-ease. Its best to wait about a half hour AFTER you eat to drink anything.

* No GMO's. You can identify GMO produce by its size, if it appears flawless, if it repels fruit flies and most importantly if it is seedless.

8 On the 7th Day we rest entirely. all of the adults in our community (with the exception of expectant mothers) go on a liquid fast for yom Shabbaht (7th day-starting from sundown "friday" to sundown "saturday"). This gives the inner organs rest.
"In the new report, the researchers said both the fasting mice and those on a restricted diet had concentrations of blood sugar and insulin that were significantly lower than mice allowed to eat whenever they wanted. Indeed, insulin levels in the fasting mice were even a bit lower than the dieting ones.

At the end of the experiment all three groups of mice were injected with a toxin that damages cells in the part of the brain called the hippocampus. It's cell damage there that that is involved in Alzheimer's in humans.

When the mouse brains were later analyzed the scientists found that the brains of the fasting mice were more resistant to damage by the toxin than the brains of either dieting mice or those eating normally. "

Three days a week we dont use salt. And three we dont use margarine. This contributes to virtual non-existence of high blood pressure. other heart dis-ease and diabetes in our community.

"Members of the community, where English is the spoken language and the children wear colorful African-style robes and white headcovers, believe a completely vegan diet of locally grown fruits and vegetables, along with regular exercise and holistic health treatments, are keys to longevity and health.

A medical study conducted in Dimona by U.S. university researchers in 1998 found the community was largely free of illnesses typical to African-Americans such as hypertension, obesity and high cholesterol.

"We expect to have something of a resort area where visitors will come, experience the lifestyle of the community, and as a point of rest and relaxation -- an island of tranquility -- here in Israel," Ben-Yehuda said."

Article from my wife's blog

Parasites - The Guests Who Came to Dinner

The intestinal tract is like a luxury hotel for parasites, bacteria and fungus. It’s warm, it’s moist, and oxygen is limited due to all the waste matter that’s packed in there. The colon – one of the most important organs in the body – is a dumping ground for waste, the place where the body toxins and excess nutrients that could be harmful to the system. It’s also where your body absorbs the nutrients that it needs in order to function and survive – so the health of your colon is mighty important. Parasites in particular can be dangerous to the health of the colon, leeching nutrients from the body and emitting emit harmful toxins that can further weaken the colon’s integrity. This can lead to a number of problems, from the mildly annoying to the deadly, such as:

* Blood sugar imbalances
* Bloating
* Sugar cravings
* Fatigue
* Insomnia
* Weight gain or loss
* Teeth grinding or TMJ
* Diarrhea
* Itching
* Irritability
* Malnutrition
* Anemia
* Immune deficiency

It’s estimated that over 90 percent of Americans contract a parasite of some kind at some point in their life. They enter our bodies from a variety of sources, including pets, food and unwashed hands. You can pick up parasites from contact with pets and other people, or just by walking barefoot. Children are easily infected by being less aware of hygiene and playing with dirt and other possible contaminated substances. But meat consumption is probably the biggest contributor to parasites flourishing in our bodies.

Eating meat can cause constipation, and constipation creates the perfect environment for parasites to thrive. These unwelcome guests multiply in the haustras, the pouches in the colon where debris is stored. At their least offensive, they cause intestinal gas – but if you experience any of the symptoms above, even something as seemingly minor as chronically itchy skin, you could very well be harboring parasites in your colon.

There are several families of parasites: Roundworms, Tapeworms, Flukes and Single Cell parasites. Each group has its own unique subset of parasites who do different things to your body. Let’s look at some of the more common intestinal parasite and what you can do to avoid them:

Giardia lamblia are protozoan parasites that infect humans via consumption of contaminated food and water. It’s commonly found in untreated water supplies, and is one of the most common causes of diarrhea in travelers, but people sometimes pick them up while swimming in ponds and lakes. Giardia is responsible for the condition known as giardiasis that causes diarrhea, bloating, flatulence, abdominal cramping, weight loss, greasy stools, and dehydration.
image

Toxoplasma gondii is another protozoan organism commonly found in the colon. Cats and kittens often carry it, and it can be transmitted to humans who handle of cats – especially their feces. You can also be infected with them by breathing in their eggs. Toxoplasma is responsible for the disease toxoplasmosis, which causes chills, fever, headaches and fatigue. If a pregnant woman contracts toxoplasmosis, it can lead to miscarriage, or birth defects such as blindness and mental retardation.
image
Roundworms are are the most common intestinal parasite in the world, affecting over one billion people. They’re also one of the largest parasites, and can grow to up to 30 inches in length. Humans can contract a roundworm infection by eating improperly cooked meat, or by handling dogs or cats infested with roundworms. Symptoms include loss of appetite, allergic reactions, coughing, abdominal pain, edema, sleep disorders, and weight loss.

image
Hookworms are able to penetrate the human skin, and often enter the body through the feet when people walk barefoot through contaminated areas. They can be all over the world, in warm, moist tropical areas, and can live in the intestines for up to fifteen years. A hookworm infection may cause symptoms such as itchy skin, blisters, nausea, dizziness, anorexia, and weight loss.
image
Trichinella parasites, caused by the consumption of raw or undercooked pork, can can mimic the symptoms of up to fifty different diseases. Possible symptoms of infection include muscle soreness, fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, edema of the lips and face, difficulty breathing, difficulty speaking, enlarged lymph glands, and extreme dehydration.
Tapeworms are the largest colon parasites that are known to infect humans. There are different types of tapeworms that infect different animals – there are beef tapeworms, pork tapeworms, fish tapeworms, and dog tapeworms. They can grow to several feet in length and live in the intestines for up to 25 years. Symptoms of a tapeworm infection are diarrhea, abdominal cramping, nausea, and change of appetite.

image
Flukes, or Trematodas, are small flatworms that can penetrate the human skin when an individual is swimming or bathing in contaminated water. Flukes can travel throughout the body and settle in the liver, lungs or intestines. Symptoms of a fluke infection include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and swelling.

Taken from a website...Alternative Remedies For Tooth Decay...

Tooth Brushing - Does it Really Work To Stop Cavities? Dentists and the American Dental Association tell us that to have healthy teeth we need to have a clean mouth. The idea is that thaving a clean mouth inhibits the formation of tooth decay causing bacteria and plaque. I don't know about you, but I brushed my teeth frequently with toothpaste and still got cavities. When I had cavities the dentist didn't tell me that I should brush more to stop the cavities (because he knows it won't work. If stopping cavities was as simple as having your teeth clean, then a dentist would treat your tooth decay by simply cleaning your teeth. The way modern dentists respond to this idea is by stating that the bacteria have become colonized. Once they colonize, you will needthe dentists drill to temporarily remove the colony. (The cavities will come back, I have the stats in my book and on my website from a large government survey.)

Dentist George W. Heard in the book "Man Versus Toothache"explained how ineffective tooth brushing is at preventing tooth cavities. He wrote, "I say that cleaning teeth has nothing to do with whetherthey decay or not." Dr. Heard continues, "[A] lady from a distant city stopped in Hereford on her way to California and called at my office. Mrs. N. had just about the cleanest mouth I had ever found in a patient. She told me that from early girlhood she had religiously kept the old textbook rule: 'Brush your teeth after each meal' For all that, my patient had a mouthful of fillings, three or four to every tooth, between the teeth, near the base, and all around. There was more golden than enamel showing in her mouth." For contrast, Dr. Heard wrote: "To cite an instance. Some years ago a patient came into my office from 20 miles west. The old fellow had never used a tooth brush in his life. He had the dirtiest mouth I had ever seen. His teeth were thickly covered with tartar, scales and caked food particles. Mr. G.P. was not in trouble when he came to see me. His wife had persuaded him that he ought to have his teeth cleaned whether they needed it or not. When I cleared that lifetime accumulation of foreign matter off his teeth - a full day's work - to myastonishment, I had uncovered as fine a set of teeth as I had run across in 50 years' practice." Question: Why did Mr. G.P. not have cavities, and why did Mrs. N.have cavities?

Money By The Mouthful:Retired dentist Robert Nara has an interesting procedure for stopping cavities. He brushes his teeth with sea salt for 2-5 minutes once or twice per day. When he was in the military, he was selected to do gum disease surgery on patients with gum disease. Most of them then had the same problem a year later. He found that if he could convince to have his patients brush their teeth with salt, (that is right, toothpastes are a marketing scheme) then their gum problems would inevitably go away. He wrote a book called "Money By The Mouthful," explaining how dentists would rather take money for surgery, than to try to help their patients prevent tooth decay or gum disease. A Tooth Paste that is Safe.Brushing your teeth can be a good idea. You don't even need to use toothpaste to do it, although there are some natural things to clean your teeth with like sea salt, or a pure and clean product without additives like tooth soap. Tooth soap is a fun brushingproduct to use.

Continues...

Why did Mr. G.P. not have cavities, and why did Mrs. N.have cavities? Just a reminder, G.P. had "lifetime accumulation of foreign matter off his teeth" and "Mrs. N. had just about the cleanest mouth I had ever found in a patient." The difference is of course in the diet. G.P.'s diet: "He ate a lot of his vegetables and raw fruit when he could get it.G. P. was also a heavy milk drinker.

He told me that he was particularly fond of buttermilk and clabber. Clabber is regular raw milk left to sit out, and then it naturally gets sour. Mrs. N.'s diet: "What Mrs. N. told me about her eating habits bore out my theory completely. All her life she lived on pastry, cakes, pies, jams and jellies. She had eaten but little meat, raw or cooked vegetables or fruit. She drank tea instead of milk."

Cavity Healing Tips from late Dentist George Heard To feed a growing child white bread and refined sugar and pasteurized milk is like leaving out cement and using dirt formixing concrete. It is no wonder the child who is habitually fed like that is pale, stunted, sickly and sometimes delinquent. It is equaly essential that the people who would eat for sound teeth give up pies, puddings, cakes and other white flour products along with candy, jellies, preserves and syrup. Milk, when pasteurized, loses vitamins and may lose the activator which helps the body assimilate its calcium. It is my convention that a person could live upon whole wheat grain soaked in milk and nothing else, and thrive upon such a diet.

More Raw Milk testimonials from Dr. Heard. Dr. Heard, as you know, I have raised a family of five daughter. Not one of them ever had the toothache or a single decayed tooth. Why Does Milk Prevent Cavities? Grassfed milk from nutrient rich soils contains the mineral phosphorus and it also contains a special vitamin not common in our modern diet Activator X. It has relations to fat-soluble vitamin K2 and fat-soluble Vitamin D. It is in the milk only when cows graze on rapidly growing green grass.

If you don't have access to excellent raw milk, you can get concentrated activator X as a whole foods supplement. It is called x-factor gold high vitamin butter oil, by Green Pastures. I suggest this food for people with cavities not getting better or if they are not satisfied with their tooth healing. Grassfed ghee will also contain activator X. The best and tastiest ghee on the market is available from Pure Indian Foods.

I can bear witness to the raw milk. A few years ago, I started using it after experiencing negative side effects of homo and pastrized milk and had stopped using it for years.

It has definitely been a been a boon to my health and even has aided in my internal cleansing in more ways that I could imagine.
