the things not associated with the album help build a tremendous hype, and 50's music on the album lived up to the hype.

I guess the concept was to get rich any way possible the album catered to almost every rap fan, even the ladies could bump it. 50 created a formula with this album that he hasnt been able to match but it would be really hard to re-make a classic like this.

So your taking away from GRODT because of EM and DRE. Its not like Em wrote 50's verses

GRODT led to 50 dominating the music scene for about two years.

The hype for 50 was mostly created by himself with the mixtapes and the beef with JA and the 9 bullets.

lol@ this cuuurly fan who fell fa da LIE/GIMMICK thinkin cuuurly got shot 9 timez when he DIDNT!

just curious what albums do you consider classic??

the thread was to take away the hype and just look at GRODT for the music and i think that it was classic and it had nothing to do with 50 stories just good music.

Look at it as entertainment gee? lol

It put gangster rap back on the map. At the time it was alot of pop in hip hop. The production was off the muthaf***** chain and 50 came with that "slow flow" and just merked that joint. That shit was hot. Hip hop need that grimy shit just as much as they need lyricism. We need F*** the Police just as much as we need I used to lover Her. GRODT is the only reason some people still even mess with 50. If it weren't for that album, 50 wouldn't even be relevant.

All jokes aside I can actually somewhat agree with this post. Did I buy GRODT? Yes. Did I buy the Massacre? Yes i did. My thing is I'm not a blind 50 hater I just think musically the nigga is a one trick pony. I will say this, GRODT is not a PERSONAL classic of mine because I cant listen to it in the present day. The music just didn't last the test of time. I can't listen to GRODT like I can Stillmatic, Black Album, Like Water for Chocolate, or even POM. 50 doesn't have any TIMELESS albums IMO

50 IMO has no TIMELESS music

you may be right though. outside of its initial hype, i don't know a lot of people who just want to go back and listen to their grodt album.

7 day theory>>>>>>GRODT

but thats like a seven years difference lol compare GRODT to the albums coming out at the time and maybe thats why people consider it a classic, it was the best album of that year. almost every rapper has some sort of gimmick they use to sell.

hype wise maybe tha Carter 3 and drakes new album

and also that Kingdom Come was super hyped like HOV was going to come and save the rap game, lol since then JAY has been highly overrated but thats for a different thread lol

Still GRODT a classic whether its a postive or negative classic is up to you.
