So Since this is a non issue and Al Sharpton is only being self serving in his actions, the next time Hollywood white washes another movie pertaining to Africa don't say shit. Yall stay going in on the racism in Hollywood but bash someone who is taking a stance against said racism. Y'all stay confused.

Gaining control of our cultures narrative is important. A bigger beast, a bigger battle, with bigger risk. Greater reward.

If we had enough movies to rival and warrant a fuss, it would mean something. If we were incapable of creating our own award show, it would mean something. If the Oscars held any real power, it would mean something.

Getting a colored section at the Oscars? It's just a color section at the Oscars. Not important. Sharptons actions are that of a child wanting to get recognized by a father that hates him.

On the subject, I think it's totally irrelevant his dismay at The Oscars not recognising Black folk this year. There has been the occasional year a Black actor won the statuette (Jamie Foxx, Denzel, Forrest Whittaker, Morgan Freeman, Jennifer Hudson, Halle Berry, .. ) all that said his concerns are genuine though

The biggest players in Hollywood are Jews/Caucasians and has been for years so what is Sharpton really upset about?

How about he calls a congregation of every notable Black actor, producer, director, script writers, technicians etc and build from there?

I dunno bout the list but maybe we just didnt do too much in terms of movies, only black movie that stands out is selma..weve got plenty of nods in past oscars so maybe this year there just wasnt any standout preformances from us, this shit right here is why alotta ppl dont like dude(sharpton), other shit he could bring attention too besides sum damn awards shows

Yes, but part of the claims people are making is that the lack of color on the board is the reason nonwhite people don't get nominations. The truth is that not only is a black person on the board, the person with the most power is black.

And are you really calling her a coon because she didn't shoehorn some black nominees into the oscars for the sake of representation? Like someone has said, Hollywood itself is a bit racist, in that there aren't a lot of nonwhites that get the big roles and opportunities in Hollywood. So it stands to reason that when awards come out for work done in Hollywood, minorities will be missing.

Either way, none of that supports the idea that this is a cause that black people should be prioritizing as far as our fights go.
