Oh snap...

another example of shaming a woman for owning her body and having agency over her sexuality...

Though I do believe that was more so the case when tlc was in their prime, rihanna seems to moreso trying to sell a certain image

Yep, even though I somewhat agree with their overall sentiment.

Nonetheless, going after a female entertainer for expressing her sexuality and taking the advantage of the adage "sex sells" is hypocritical, since they did it as well. Maybe not to the extent people like Rihanna and others are now, but they were doing nonetheless. I think it's likely if they were in this era, they'd share the same perspective as the people they're condemning right now.

I mean...:
=kp

That's actually the point. We all know sex sells but when that's the only thing you can sell that says a lot about you talent. I mean Rhianna's career sounds like one long single. The songs all run together

Look, the difference between TLC and acts that came out during ttheir era and a Rihanna is those acts didn't solely rely on selling their sexual image. Vocally TLC wasn't even all that TBH. Girlgroups like Brownstone sang better, but they could dance their a*s off tho'. They could perform.

Rihanna is like a Kim K. type of A-lister at this She can't dance nor perform exceptionally well. All she got is her 'sexually liberated' or 'slutty' image she's pushing. Anytime she's mentioned it's about which celeb she's linked to, her showing up topless or now even naked in public events etc. TBH Rihanna's even weaker than Britney before she got cracked out and was still having hitsingles. Atleast Britney could dance and perform.

I can see why TLC would come out with that statement, but to be fair on both sides they too did sell their bodies. Difference was that was not ALL they were known for contrary to 'Riri' (n/h).

They're hypocrites but honestly, TLC are grown ups now, they aren't kids but they have kids and your mentality changes when you mature.

Besides Rhianna is consistently damn near naked, I can't really say the same for TLC, they showed off a little bit but they also wore baggy clothes where you couldn't see shit (wasnt like there was much to see but still).

RI RI BE DOING THE MOST ALLLL THE TIME DOE... LIKE YOU WILL FIND SEVERAL PICS OF HER WITH NO BRA ON AND SHE JUST CHILLIN

I don't really think they are being hypocritical. They aren't criticizing artists nowadays for being sexual. They are criticizing artists like Rihanna for creating this atmosphere where everyone feels like defining themselves solely by there sexuality is the thing to do.

A single pic where everyone is still covered up is completely different than Rihanna's entire M.O. of perpetuating an increasingly more and more slutty public image. Nothing is wrong with women showing off their sexuality, but with Rihanna it's like she's actively trying to see how much of a whore she can get away with being before people finally say "Enough."

The biggest difference is TLC made it fun and sexy without gettin' butt ass nekid like Rihanna who's one video closer to an all out porn gangbang on BangBros.com and I can't wait to see it either....

Why the feelings? ...i mean I am right, that is exactly what is going on here

Not as if we condemn men for flaunting their bodies and sexuality

Lets keep it real

I get that but let's look at it from Rihanna's POV. She gotta do all that because she lacks substance and basic talent. No voice, no dancing/ choreography, no substance. She gotta whore herself out to remain relevant. @ The end of the day this is business...

I can only comment race issues.

we can make this about the sexualization of the black woman and the promotion of the jezebel stereotype...

You hush before someone actually does.

If TLC came out today they'd be half naked too. Sex sells, they used it in their way, and it's being used in the upfront way more and more. It's just the way it is.

But I truly think rihanna in general likes being naked. I'm not mad about it. Rihanna has some nice tittays.

That was kinda the trend then tho. They weren't trend setting not being hoes.

I remember me and my friends going crazy back in the day when we saw the bottom of T-Boz's boob. Like "OH SHIT DID YOU SEE DAT!!!! HELL YEA!"

Nigga. You wasn't the only one. Lol. Back then, I thought they was pushin the limits.

TLC kinda has a point. I mean I always thought Lady Gaga was Madonna 2.0. Rihanna catching feelings, yet she's showing up damn near bucked naked at awards shows.

So that one pic she posted means nothing compared to the plethora of nude/semi nude pics she got out there.

They got a point, while they didn't show it in their videos, their lyrics say otherwise.

And why are they talking? Those broads were Mya status during their heydays.

Why does a woman showing off her body whenever, however she pleases, and owning her sexuality equate to her being a "whore"

The fact that in there is a breaking point that would warrant a collective "enough" , suggest that you and like minded individuals only tolerate certain public displays of female sexuality and don't necessarily think its "nothing wrong with it"
