I'm somewhat familiar with Kinsey. I took about 4 or 5 psychology courses in undergrad.

My contention with accepting that 80% number based on the Kinsey Scale is if the Kinsey scale has a Gaussian distribution. Maybe it does have a Gaussian distribution when charted, but i haven't seen it. Gonna keep looking, it's actually interesting and good to know when i start dealing with patients. Especially psych patients.

But w.r.t. Kinsey, i see him more like Freud, in that the theories he proposed may or may not be accurate. But are good starting points for studying human sexuality and sexual behaviour. He was a big deal w.r.t. to bringing that stuff out into the open for discussion in Judeo-Christian culture. But it's yet to be seen if much of what he said will stand the test of time.

Freud was accepted and thought to be correct in a lot of theories, but as we understood everything better, we've realized that he was wrong in a lot of things, but his work provided a great foundation on which to build multiple theories and branches of psychiatric study off of.
