Too many idiots know they're guilty.........still go to trial......and end up getting twice the time they would have if they'd just taken the plea deal.
Only chance he has is on appeal by claiming his lawyer forced him to take the plea against his will.
Still might backfire if they throw out the plea, give him a trial.....and he ends up getting 10-15 years.

My wife is attorney more specifically an assistant DA and she tells me all the time to always roll the dice and take it to trial.
Most prosecutors just want to plea cases out to clear their work load and make life easier on them.
It looks like a win because you generally getting reduced time and other concessions in a plea, but at times you could have got it thrown out all together especially with more serious charges.
Guess it's on a case-by-case basis. (no pun intended)
But with dude catching a gun charge in New York of all places, I'm inclined to think he's better off taking the plea.
