I was around in those days as a young pup and was a big NWA/RUTHLESS FAN, the first G-FUNK album was ABOVE THE LAW'S "LIVIN LIKE HUSTLERS" Dre was in the studio watching some magic being worked by Cold 187'um, who was using live instruments with Jazz, Funk and Soul samples. So Dre was picking up on it, even though he co-produced 2 tracks on the album but he caught on and put his twist on it a year latter with the Chronic
