There's a documentary on linktv that discusses your question. What does America mean to you? The Listening Project is a captivating cinematic journey around the world in search of the meaning of America. Watch this extraordinary documentary, shot in 2006 during the Bush era, but with a message that still resonates today.

The Listening Project follows four unique Americans through fourteen countries – from a Shanghai hip-hop club to a war-ravaged Kabul neighborhood to a village at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro – in each place asking, "what do you think of America?" In beautifully-photographed locales, we encounter fascinating and diverse characters who reveal not only the impact of the U.S. on their lives, but also their perspectives on crumbling empires, human fellowship, and what it means to be a citizen in a globalized world.

People dont like America. My home base is outside the U.S, but I was born here and have business here so I go back and forth. As far as race relations in the media, the U.S. has generally been condemned by international news sources but that has kinda switched up in areas that are buddy-buddy with Uncle Sam since the advent of the Obama hoax. The media that most shapes perceptions of race in the U.S. by those outside of it is music, followed by movies and then television. Basically, Black Americans are judged by the negative images American media perpetuates. It creates a pradox in different societies because the older folks look down on us and fear us and the younger ones try to emulate us but the only pattern they have for that are pop culture nigga-isms. If you talk to them and have some sense they are shocked and then happy. In the more rural and so-called 3rd world regions I've been to, they are bit more up on the good things in our history and if they are not they accept you as long as you dont fit the annoying American tourist mold. In Africa, a lot of times they wil look at American blacks as white by the way that they talk and act. It really depends on whether you stay on the beaten tourist path or if you go where the real people are. if I can commit the sin of generalizing here, i would say that mainly "blacks" are met with responses ranging from apprehension to admiration and the "white' power structure is viewed with either suspicion or admiration. Mostly suspicion.

Israel. Working on securing some land in Ghana too.

There are some racist ass Israelis in the north but the Israelis in the negev are cooler. There are mostly people of color in the southern parts. I had to hit a Tel Aviv Israeli in the mouth for calling me a kooshi krambo ( a modern Hebrew slang phrase for ni99er). Generall over there, if you show and prove that you aint no pushover and that you wont take no abuse (like the older Ethiopians unfortunately have submitted to) then they will try to correct themselves at best or respect you and stay out of your way at worse.

People think AAs are just like they are portaryed in the hip hop videos and some ghetto movies that you see on tv daily. It's funny but that's just the way people start to think when they are brainwashed by watching an enormous amount of television.

One last question. If an African American wanted to migrate to Israel would he have to convert to Judaism or just say that he believes he is a descendant of the tribe of Judah?

if you went the conversion route the Conservative variety is the best thing to do as if you convert orthodox they will be all in your ass 24/7 for years after you move there. reform jews and Messianic Jews are a joke in Israel.

As far as just saying you believe you are a descandant of the tribe of Judah, that was a part of the Law of return but our HUGE influx during the late 60's and early 70's caused them to switch that clause up. So no...unless you got connects all saying that will do is get you hemmed up for hours at Ben-Gurion only to get sent back to where you came from.

if conversion is not your bag, then you can go on a work visa and there are also programs for students.

People here in jamaica either view the US as a place to make money and then return home, or a place to get some fast money... and see what happens.

honestly the view of African Americans by Jamaicans is fairly negative... but I dont really want to touch on that

what? that makes no sense. Jamaicans have been effectively integrating into black America for almost 100 years now. black North Americans & West Indians are so similar that it's quit easy to do.

This is why I made this thread brother. I wannahave an unbiased opinion of how we are viewd outside the USA. Good or bad. Because we can't rely on TV or these schools to educate us. We have to seek for ourselves. So share the knowledge brother. I won't be offended at all.
