I remember my god brother and his family almost died like that. My uncle is a pastor and he felt the need to go check on them, we get there and smell this strong odor. My uncle tells me to call 911 and he puts a shirt over his nose and mouth and goes in. After I get off the phone with 911, I call my cousin who lives up the street and he pulls up and goes in. We got all 8 people out and they worked on them. It was the scariest thing seeing them in that state. R.I.P. to this family.

Horrible Tragedy,

Meta is right, poverty can be deadly especially when paired with ignorance or a lack of common sense.

The only reason I can think of a person running a generator in the home was maybe he thought it would be safer inside ( from the elements or someone walking off with it? )

Either way, his lack of basic understanding of the danger of running a noxious generator that emits CO is astounding and what did his family in.

Plenty of people throughout the world, without access to a reliable power grid, safely use generators, outside of the home!

After Hurricane Katrina, I've seen plenty people use generators inside. Nothing happen to them. Am I missing something?
