He's had way better songs than the tracks on his biggest release but yet people pay them no mind, it's a very interesting introspection on the audience.
As for Lil Wayne, objectively the quality of music he's putting out now is inferior to when he was droppin records in 2004-2009. I think the main reason tho is b/c he stuck w/ a slightly watered down formula of song-making and b/c he was everywhere the quality of his music became over-saturated. Over the years, none of Wayne's songs have been a step up from the past (musically) in strong doses. I know he's done records like "How To Love" & "No Love" but he didn't continuously release records like that. He has too much music out, so whenever we hear new records we can't help but weigh it to the Dedication/Drought mixtapes we're prolly still listening to.
Very few artists have gotten over this obstacle (Kanye West, Sade, U2, Jay come to mind).
The interesting thing is while 50's music lost popularity and had less sells lil tunafish actually gained more pop fans and some of his die hard fans still bought his music. Case in point C4 sold nearly as good as C3 despite the album not being as good and even the buzz from the album dying after the first week.
Whereas 50 (partially cause of his beefs and slight blackballing) made music and is still trying to make failed comebacks.
Didn't read.
