Well, we can credit DJ's downfall to shitty business moves. They spent all that money shoving Rihanna and Kanye in our faces. I mean for god's sake, they gave Kanye a half hour video on every music channel on some Michael Jackson shit. Them other projects didn't see a tenth of that same promotion. I didn't know the Roots and Big Boi had albums out til a week in advance, but they was quick to let Kanye close out the VMAs. And Ross is basically doing guerrilla promotion right now, he went gold basically on his own terms.

With G Unit, you're talking about a label that started 8 years ago. When your label is that young, especially with the investment 50 put in, you'd think they'd only get bigger. Banks should've been a consistent platinum, at least gold artist. If you remember that XXL cover with the whole G Unit on there, you'd remember how powerful they were at one point. As bad as DJ is businesswise, 50 is just as bad. His beefs with Buck and Game, the only marketable artists other than Banks, didn't help things either. He capitalized more for himself than his label, and now he's stuck with Banks, Yayo and... Shawty Lo... LMAO

lol how r u gonna leave out da biggest star on da label KID KID? ahahahahhahahahahahhahhhhaaaaaaaaa

kingdome come was the dagger into the heart of def jam. $35 million dollars in marketing for an album that had no top 5 singles and barely sold 2 million. 82% drop off second week. ULTRA FLOP

GOOD FUCKIN POST!!!

Yall remember back in 03-04 G-unit hade like 12 back to back XXL covers. With all that god damn promotion Banks should of at least been a consistent gold artist but thanx to ya boy 50 he lucky to break 100K and pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaase dont blame that on the music industry. Remember when 50 used to read the soundscan on the radio?? KARMA IS A MUTHAFUCKA and I promise 50 wont even go gold this time around. Im just waiting for somebody like Jay or Kanye to clown the fuck outta this clown so he can go away once and for all.how the fuck you gonna get rid of Young Buck and replace him with Shawty Lo??? It was a smart move business wise cuz G-Unit cant even set foot down south so they need protection but music wise that shiit was a doo-doo move. NOBODY fuckin with G-unit outside of Dipset. Jay aint fuckin with em, Cam aint fuckin with em, Joe aint fuckin with em, Ross, Khaled Cash Money I mean the lost go on and on. Sad when you think about it....

So what.

EVERYBODY knows that Def Jam has been in the red for years. Probably since Jay corrupted it with that psuedo-stint as president.

when in doubt,blame jay-z

G-Unit could potentially be a good label. Fif just needs to find good artists, have em make good records, and be involved w/ their promotion. Get people to invest in that artist, and G-Unit will be a good label. I don't think fif is at a place where he can run his own label he got a lot going on. If i was to work w/ G-Unit i would sign artist like LoS, Emilio Rojas, etc. get them w/ some good producers, and strategically release shtit w/ them like mixtapes, help them form a bigger fanbase and following, release at least 1 or 2 mixtapes that'll get them there, push songs off their mixtapes, make music videos and brainstorm w/ 50 how to promote those artists.
