The decision was made through arbitration....which means both parties are legally bound to the decision of the arbitrator.

the article says a arbitrator and then finishes with a federal court upholding the amount. 50 can still dispute that courts finding. he might not win...he loss in arbirtration and in federal court. still he can appeal. arbitration is not always binding and it seems this one was not as they went to federal court.
