GRODT is a good album, but I think and thought then alot of it's success was due to coming at the end of the era where albums were selling millions easily and Eminem being able to get you an instant plaque. I mean even Obie Trice got a platinum plaque offering a "Meet Eminem" contest on his first album

Real talk, i think you on to something...I guess real artists are able to survive and have some sort of longevity, hence nas, jay and etc...he had a lot of impact and made a lot of money in this game, but musically this nigga was a fluke, 1 quality album ans that was it, no different than other artists who turn out to be flukes...
