Y'all really in here trying to shit on mchg smh we must've heard 2 different lp's

Naw, I get their beef with it. Mind you I fuck with a lot of MCHG. I still maintain that Holy Grail is top 2 WOAT JAY-Z songs EVER. *lookin at you too, Ghetto Techno*

given it was the first solo jay album in 4 years, i couldn't wait to hear MCHG

i press play and the first voice i hear? Justin Timberlake...crooning....for 90 fucking seconds

JT cool but this is a rap album. i wanted to hear bars and beats, not this poppy shit. not on track 1

then jay came with the struggle rhymes

"blue told me remind you niggas...

fuck that shit you talking bout, i'm that nigga..."

bruh....

MCHG starts at track 2 as far as i'm concerned

Also that four bar loop quote had a nigga feelin bad as fuck lol :bawling:

TPAB was an album I struggled to find a four bar loop on. Production was immaculate. There was always a slightly different baseline, a horn run, a key riff, something to keep variety.

Lol, I dabble in production, hence why I said that. But I agree wholeheartedly. The musicality is one of my favorite things about TPAB. I still don't see why it's so hated...

because it had depth.

TPAB is one of those albums niggas wont appreciate until years from now

that album was medicine something niggas needed to hear at that point and time

That was more of a rhetorical statement than anything. Let me put it like this, it still baffles the living shit out me how a lot of us blantantly shun substance and/or intellect.

Comments like this are why people are starting to say Kendrick fans are reaching Lupe stan level of being pretentious prices on some I'm smarter than you shit. It aint about shunning substance. The album was universally lauded. "Alright" became a song people chanted as they marched in the streets....but damn nobody wants something that heavy every time you cut on the album. DAMN has substancr and intetllect and it's heralded too...its also just plain and simple more fun to listen to

So you just gonna pretend that a lot of the niggas that don't fuck with tha album like that aren't the same people whose go to line is: it don't bang in da whip, bitches ain't twerkin to Kendrick, etc?

Ok.

There's only a small portion of people who dislike the album...which makes your comment about alot of us shunning substance and intellect false...

Props to the K.Dot and Cole tho. Bringing conscience rap to the mainstream and being successful at it. Without them pushing the needle in that direction, I don't even think Jay makes this album. Which is good by the way even with the lazy flows. 4/5.

Wait... so you actually like the album!? Why tha venom then?

Lol, I never had any venom. Been bumping it all weekend. Niggas is just in their feelings in here. I'm not finna jump off the roof cause it took Jay 47 years and 3 kids later to be on something, niggas been on.

He's done it years ago already. Songs like Where Have U Been, Soon You'll Understand, December 4th...he's got more than a few songs like this...just not an entire album...and neither does Cole or Kendrick because not all their shit is on some conscious super introspective shit either. Hell "Fucking Problems" was originally made for GKMC and ain't shit conscious about that

Im not sure if its about Ye, could just be a shot at the younger generation... Or maybe its both...

I think it's against Bhris and karruche and co.

Would only make sense since he legit hates Bhris and he was compared to a young MJ years ago.

And karruche been passed around alot.

Could also mean drake, meek, or insert random rapper that takes leftovers

You said all that to say its not about 1 specific person lol

We're supposed to laugh 'til our hearts stops

And then meet in a space where the dark stops

And lets love light the way

Like the men before me, I cut off my nose to spite my face

I never wanted another woman to know

Something about me that you didn't know

I promised, I cried, I couldn't hold

I suck at love, I think I need a do-over

I will be emotionally available if I invited you over

I stew over, what if you over my shit?

I said it before but Holy Grail is Jay Z worse intro ever.

Speaking of intros, how would y'all rate "kill jayz" against Jays over intros

constantly ranking shit dulls people appreciation for shit..but the intro set the tone for the album in deconstructed the character and showed you the man behind the mask instead of aspiration you got realization

Jay the master of sublims... I know it might have been mentioned before but employing No ID to produce the entire album and him being Kanye's mentor as a producer coupled with his angry rant at Jay which was of course highlighted in the album ...

Proper sonning...
