Man I think the new cats in the industry today are so wack that a 30+ nigga wit knowledge and wittiness can take over the game.Because everybodys shit got pushed the fuck back and the niggas dropping albums are wack as fuck.

Seriouslly being an artist is hard as fuck. You gotta wake up at weird hours like 6'o clock to do a video shoot.Fucking do interviews wit niggas that want to catch you on a fucked up question.People hating on you for no reason.Shit is hard as fuck plus you gotta drop heat after heat.

Your confusing the life of a star with the life of an artist or musician.

Just because they are not worldwide, dosen't mean they are obsolete and not making money off it. underground is heard in other countries. It's people u never heard about here getting money from their music in other countries...especially club music, you would be surprised how some people have superstar names in other countries but are considered obsolete here..one thing about a musician, you can't tell a musician when to stop making music. Music is something some people do because they LOVE to do. People think just because people do not get notary respect for it they gonna stop....Those are the onlookers who really don't love music who think musicians should stop making music if they are not worldwide....if you are not into music then you won't understand a musician, a musician do not stop making music just because they are not famous off it, it's something thats in your BLOOD to do...

Do u have any idea how LONG the money is underground? People grind their mix cd's on the street these days like coke and dope, and trust alot of people buy it, it's just not on billboards...it's people that made a killing just selling music from myspace/facebook, or underground websites.

The underground chain is longer than you think

Interesting thread.I face this everyday.I thought everybody in here would be shitting on older rappers.yes as an artist gets older he must plan, especially if he's not getting money off music but, there have been older artists in rap forever WuTang,Master P,Baby,Ice T,jay,Em,DMX etc.The game has changed and while a 30 plus artist getting signed to Interscope or Def Jam is a reach(,even though 5 Cent was 27,but had had a deal before),A great indie career is very possible and maybe something bigger.

As long as they are taking care of house and home why do you care what their career choice is? Now if they on some bum shit or are turrble rappers, that's a different story. I understand where you are coming from, but this hip hop shit is timeless b. If they got talent, you should support them.

i got wild old head friends thats still tryna rap at 30+ yrs of age. niggas is making mixtapes and doing lil chitlin circuit shows but no real money coming out of it at all. i try to let em know that while they might be able to rap it might be time for a career change. i dont know too many niggas making it in the game at 30. what yall think??

At 30, It would be a pretty good idea to start looking at a plan B perhaps. Not saying they have to give up music, maybe get into management, or go to school and learn how to engineer. But then again a dream shouldn't have an age limit. If he feels he got something, and he's passionate about his dream...fuckit, more power to him. I mean hell...Morgan Freeman didn't really blow up until he did Driving Miss Daisy, and he was 50 when he did that role. So who knows? Until he feels he needs to move on to something else, he's not too old.

If I dont think they got what it takes and they got kids at home that aren't being supported like they need to be, then I'd tell them biggas they prolly need to get a 9 to 5 and chase them dreams on the weekend. If it's just them with no other responsibilities, then I'd tell them...well, I'd tell them the same shit. If you been rapping since 17 and ain't on by 30 - and by 'on' I mean got REAL Industry connections and pulling down 6 figures a year off of it and having your name ring out at least in your own region - then you prolly need to quit.

i support them regardless of how i feel but at the same time a REALl friend is supposed to kick it to u REAL. aint too many rappers making it right at 30 with the exception of a few. today the game is not as easy to get into. either u gotta dumb down ya music or u gotta make up a silly ass facade. at 30 u shouldn't give up ur creative rights, shit at no age should u give up your creative rights. i have nothing against chasing a dream but i know that dream chasing can last forever and ur whole life can be consumed by it.
