Despite public backlash courtesy of Kanye West and A$AP Rocky, West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar has spoken up for MTV's much-debated "Hottest MCs in the Game" Top 10 list.

In Kendrick's perspective, the debates on where artists should be placed on the chart are healthy for the rap game.

"It's very important for hip-hop," the Compton MC told Rap-Up TV on set of T.I.'s video for "Memories Back Then." "I love that they have debates like that. We need that. It's competitive. With Kendrick being #1, this list is totally accurate to me.

At least Nas is listed.

At least Jay, Nicki, Em and Wayne is off it.

How the hell is Nas even mentioned on this list anyway?

Niggas ain't dying or sacrificing newborn babies to get a Nas feature these days, this ain't '97/'98....Nas a 2013 "hottest" emcee? skillwise he demolishes every sorry excuse of rapper named on this list along with whoever makes #1 and #2, but as a nigga who got shit on smash in today's market? Naaaahhhh

He better hope this recognition translate into $$$$ because I'm pretty sure Destiny is tired of having Nas as a roommate at her dorm
