Most of them weren't even empires but

>Nazi Germany

>Ottoman empire

>Portuguese

>United States

Those four or objectively wrong and whoever came up with this list should be ashamed.

It's a very respectable list, I didn't know the Persian Empire was that large in BC times. The Mongolians were truly no joke, Genghis Khan might be the greatest general of all time

The person who made this list isn't too far off, the Romans, Mongolians, Spaniards, Iranians and British had very large empires.

I agree but this list is mostly shit. Only the Romans, spaniard, British, actively participate a policy of expansion and we're successful at it.

The Mongolians was as much an "Empire" as the Holy Roman empire was an "empire

Ottoman empire was strong during the 16th 17th century but fell into strong decline after that. Here is something particularly funny. To mehmed IV probably the strongest emperor of the Ottoman from the Cossacks. They basically beat him in a battle but mehmed still demanded there surrender. Here is there reply to his message.

Zaporozhian Cossacks to the Turkish Sultan!

O sultan, Turkish devil and damned devil's kith and kin, secretary to Lucifer himself. What the devil kind of knight are you, that can't slay a hedgehog with your naked arse? The devil excretes, and your army eats. You will not, you son of a bitch, make subjects of Christian sons; we've no fear of your army, by land and by sea we will battle with thee, fuck your mother.

You Babylonian scullion, Macedonian wheelwright, brewer of Jerusalem, goat-fucker of Alexandria, swineherd of Greater and Lesser Egypt, pig of Armenia, Podolian thief, catamite of Tartary, hangman of Kamyanets, and fool of all the world and underworld, an idiot before God, grandson of the Serpent, and the crick in our dick. Pig's snout, mare's arse, slaughterhouse cur, unchristened brow, screw your own mother!

So the Zaporozhians declare, you lowlife. You won't even be herding pigs for the Christians. Now we'll conclude, for we don't know the date and don't own a calendar; the moon's in the sky, the year with the Lord, the day's the same over here as it is over there; for this kiss our arse!

- Koshovyi Otaman Ivan Sirko, with the whole Zaporozhian Host.

The Mongolians had a legit empire though, most historians agree on that. And the Iranians had a large landmass that historians agree was mostly an empire as well. The list isn't as bad as you say it is, America doesn't fit the historical bill of empire but it's very close to being one. America forcefully took a huge chunk of a damn continent, and has waged endless bloody and immoral wars across much of the world to keep a monopoly of power and resources.

I see you failed history in school also

If I failed history class, then historians have failed history class as well.

More like you failed to understand the things historians wrote that list is trash

If you say so!

i'm not the only one

You're outnumbered badly. Part 1 of the video list has 8,015 upvotes, only 538 down votes. You lose.

what is the votes on the video suppose to prove??? it proves nothing because it the voters don't leave any reasoning once again you argue using fallacies

You can disagree with the list if you want, but many others think it's respectable. Is it a perfect list, no, but there is no perfect list out there anyway. I personally would have put the Spaniards a little higher up, along with the ancient Egyptians.

But I can understand why the list of nations was made the way it is, America isn't an empire in definition but its battles and wars for resources historically has been massive. Same for the empires that were named, the Mongolians and British especially.

My nigga how did the Mongolians have a legit empire if it broke down as soon as genhis khan son died? How is it an empire if individual khans have more power then the supposed emperor. How is it an empire if it's was spilt between khanates for the majority of its history. And on top of that the few times they were actually "united" it always ended in violent power struggles.

Nobody's doubting they weren't strong and didn't control alot of areas but they were NOT an empire. They were an empire in the way that holy Roman empire was in that they weren't one at all.

The list is shit. Don't say top 10 empires and then not put empires.

It's all pathetic, there has never been an empire to take over the whole world or even close to it, even if it is the "known world" except the British empire. Other than 1 all of the others are conjectures and the reality of the empires were brittle at best.

Which is what I'm saying. Britain is probably the only one who really made a push to conquer everything and if it was able to keep america then they might have actually succeeded. To a lesser extent Roman Empire but they had no desire to rule over other. They saw all lands outside of their own as barbaric and savage.

Terrible post man.......

Historians mostly agree the Mongols had an empire, even after Genghis Khan's death. I'll take the word of hundreds and thousands of historians over little old you.

Historians from all over the world agree the Mongols had an empire, yes it was fractured after Genghis Khan's death but to say the Mongols didn't have an empire is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen on the internet.
http://asianhistory.about.com/od/Genghis_and_Mongols/ss/The-Mongol-Empire.htm

Between 1206 and 1368, an obscure group of Central Asian nomads exploded across the steppes and established the world's largest contiguous empire in history - the Mongol Empire.
