Damn you mangled in that 59... Crazy, but I guess even though the material is not as strong, they design today's cars for safety... Lawsuits are a bitch

I've never worked on automobiles, but I'm guessing the metal is 16 to 20 gauge steel. That shit folds easy enough with a hammer, a hot tack, or some clamps. You can seriously risk warping metal that thin very easily with simple fabrication. So the car crash damage should be as devastating as the video shows.

So thin steel is not as strong as thick steel, basically. The old school crumpling up is not that surprising from my experience.
