Wu Tang Manual is great also
Though the best book I read on Hip-Hop, easily, is "How To Rap: The Art & Science of the Hip-Hop MC"
It's made up from interviews with over 100 MCs, people like Big Daddy Kane, Chuck D, Mobb Deep, Pharoahe Monch, Royce Da 5'9", Crooked I, Tribe Called Quest...
To me, Big Pun and RA The Rugged Man are the dudes who have the most obvious G Rap influence in their rhymes, though they're both incredibly dope and bring like a twist on the style so it's their version of it
Word, I'd even say that in some ways G Rap kinda ruined other rappers music for me... because now I'm only impressed if I hear the type of complex rhyme schemes I hear on a G Rap record and there's only like 0 other rappers that do it on that level, so now everything else seems half-baked to me
Word
Was this concert meant to have happened when Jay-Z was still the hype man for Big Daddy Kane?
If so, there is no chance Jay "destroyed" BDK in concert because at the time Jay was still rhyming like a sloppy version of Jaz-O -

Or like a Das EFX...
Word, Biggie had a complex flow though, and used his voice very well... and as Kane says, he was direct and got his point across clearly. It's different methods for different MCs
True, though I think it's probably particularly annoying for BDK when people buy into the whole "writing in my head" thing when it's to do with Jay-Z, because Jay-Z used to be Kane's hype man
And Kane can rap circles around Jay-Z
Check it out 10 years from now, G Rap, Kane, Rakim will still be up there in the top 10 convo
None of the dudes now will be
That's just how it works kid, I seen it happen over and over
In the late 90s a load of dudes were like, "these old rappers are washed up! Mase is the greatest rapper!"...
Dudes like G Rap, Rakim, and Big Daddy Kane were in peoples top 10 lists in the '80s
And they were in peoples top 10 lists in the '90s
They were in peoples top 10 lists in the '00s
And they're still in peoples top 10 lists in the '10s
All these other dudes come and go, but these guys are...
No, but he's also better at doing the things he invented
He puts together more rhyming words than Eminem
He tells better stories and street tales than Nas
He has cleverer and funny metaphors than Canibus
AND he influenced them all, so all that combined puts him ahead
