I agree, he's one of the GOAT "lyricists", which is different than a GOAT "rapper" or a GOAT "MC".

And yeah, besides Liquid Swords and the stuff he did on 36 Chambers and Wu Tang Forever I don't really bump his music but that Liquid Swords album is a masterpiece.

Having said that, back around 2002/03 I had a video show on the local community access channel. I used to play this video as it was new at the time

Breaker, Breaker - GZA

Yeah, I don't even see how this can be argued unless you haven't listened to much Gza. He's not everyone's cup of tea as a overall MC, but he is a supreme lyricist. Remember when he went after 50?

Yes and Grandmasters is an underrated album.

GZA's verse from "Put Your Hammer Down"

Yo; High ranked officials and armed tanks and missiles

Blood drizzle simple fact you slept on the issue

That before he started jerkin' off joysticks and Sega

I made tapes a hundred watt amps Cerwin Vegas

RZA fine tune it shipping mil units

MC's ask, who be those rhyme killers in masks?

No doubt difficult task to last in the square

Beware infinite amount of darts is in the air

I'm victorious no opponents and blast through components

And microphones watch the whole world live the moment

Anything anti that came approaching this

Incapable lust speech remains motionless

GZA"s verse on "Street Corners (Remix)" is dope too. You can find it on Masta Killa's second solo album "Made in Brooklyn."

I catch a few flashbacks about, going through the struggle

How we used to make dollars, from all the snow we shoveled

In a broke neighborhood, where the kids often dream

About a lavish life, that is mostly seen in the screen

Where some dreams are quickly cut short, due to gang violence

From loud guns, that kept witnesses, in deep silence

Was it bad timing? Jealousy from too much shining?

Or a set up, from a girl that he wined, kept dining

It's a known fact, they will attack, cause it's like that

And depending on the, kind of impact, that strike back

In a town where the talk is cheap and, beef is brief

A mother sobs uncontrollably, and exhibit the grief

Large holes in the front door, of a housing tenement

Allows room to retaliate, so conflict is imminent

This hate in the brain, destroys the cells like cancer

Even experts are stuck with more questions than answers

Only a goat lyricist can pull something like this off, a street/jungle analogy he paints a vivid picture of the streets using animals

This one below has a clever edge to it. See how long it takes to you to figure out the theme.
