Will Reasonable Doubt ever get the same treatment as Illmatic?

The main reason why it hasnt been remade or talked about as an legit classic because the album is fuckin wack. Boring production, off beat flow, generic mid 90s mafioso big willie rap lyrics. Nobody was bumping the shit in 96. I cant name 1 person who bought that album besides myself in 1996. 99% of niggas didnt even know RD existed until 2001. No it will never get the same treatment. RD isnt a classic. Never was and never will be

I don't remember "It Was Written" dropping a week after "Reasonable Doubt", but apparently it did. Probably why it gets overlooked.

I never heard any 'Ode to Illmatic’ or ‘Elmatic'. I don't think anyone needs to try to remake Reasonable Doubt either.

Both classics but, Illmatic was first and groundbreaking.

Nas made pen games improve

Far from ground breaking. You can hear how amateur Nas sounds compared to RD where Jay master the art of rapping on his debut.Granted he was older when he recorded the album.Nas did not master rap until IWW.The legendary producers carried Nas on Illmatic.

Nah there's no point. Illmatic is a standard bearer just like Paid In Full or Straight Outta Compton. Those joints exploded on the scene and never went away. RD was released to little or no fanfare and was rediscovered only because Jay-Z was successful later on.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not like that other cat who said RD was wack, I'm jussayin it had no initial impact. Perhaps it was ahead of its time, there is plenty of evidence that it might have been but also there is the fact that RD was released on a small label with little or no marketing. Could be any number of reasons.

In any event Illmatic is a hip-hop jewel. Dudes like to pay homage, that's fine. Elmatic was raw too by the way. Elzhi is a good rapper. Fashawn is straight too.

In my book their both great classic albums.. You can make an argument over which one is better but, there both dope

What's the point of this thread? To discredit Reasonable Doubt again? It's best Jay album and one of the most important mafioso-style albums of era. Although it's not as influential as Illmatic, it's classic anyway.
