Why did hip hop fans reject Guerilla Black but accept Shyne?

Shyne just has a deep voice, in no way was he trying to be Big, Guerrilla Black on the other hand even went so far as to try to swipe the image as well. That didnt sit well with anyone.

Shyne was aight as an artist, never really have a damn about GB though. He was obviously biting.

Neither Shyne's flow, nor his voice were Biggies. The difference was quite clear, and even tho the voices were somewhat similar, it was his natural voice, something he could not change (unlike the Game trying to be Shyne), he was just being himself.

edit: not that Guerilla Black's voice doesn't really sound like that, but you get my point. hopefully...

Both songs are hard. I always liked the sample behind the GB "Compton" track and "Bad Boyz" is just raw. Barrington levy did it big on that joint.

Shyne didn't sound like Biggie IMO. Plus he could spit. Guerrilla Black sounded like Big without the lyrical talent.

Guerilla was Big Sizzle (or whatever it was) and sounding like Mystikal, then for him to emerge 3 years later as a complete Biggie clone, I don't think that sat well with people.

People hated on Shyne when he came out, but when he caught those legal troubles and dropped the joint from that place, I feel like he caught a strong buzz cause his street image was cemented.
