i don't think it's dying. i think he's pulling a Lupe. he's just backing off for a while (be it a very very short while) so that people can anticipate something since all they have are good verses from him. i still hear So Far Gone playing in people's whips from time to time. plus he got all the lil' kids wishing they were on a 24 hour champagne diet. Drake's good. If he drops a fire single, it's a wrap.

from a hustlin standpoint he could have made more money if he dropped a mediocre album by the end of the month which is what he should have done. If he made an album with allot of that slick talk the ladies like he could easily get good numbers. Thats all you need to do now is make some tracks for the burbs and the females and they will sell. Shoot people like me who look for lyrical ability and consistentcy can keep hatin and he would be getting more cake.

And for the love of Hip Hop, isnt that what we DONT WANT anymore out of our artists? Niggas droppin shit JUST to drop it for while they have "buzz" to cake off? I actually respect artists like Drake, J.Cole, B.O.B and Wale(though in his case he got pushed back a couple times) for attempting to CRAFT solid albums and building an ACTUAL FANBASE than trying to capitilize off some momentary "buzz". Look at Asher Roth as an example, he dropped I Love College, rushed out with his Album and STILL bricked, so this only proves that buzz does NOT equal album sales and longetivity.

besides he kinda already did drop something to captiliz off of his "bzz" and get a grammy nomination with the retail release of So Far Gone, a damn 7 song EP thats sold like 300k I believe so I think his strategy at this point has been paying off..
