go to school and get a job then rap on the side

dont ever think i have said this to a bcotton post but cosign lol. nah but seriously niggas need to stop trying to live off just rapping. And even if rapping is what you do full time you need to have a degree because trends change quick.

Another thing i will say is don't spam the internet spamming can kill your career before you start. If you posting on social media too much niggas gunna be turned off. Never have a goal to get X amount of views or X amount of followers because then you start forcing people to sympathy follow you but they could care less about your movement. Twitter followers does not always = real fans album sales mainstream or underground.

A. get your paper work correct (LLC name, ascap, copywrite songs)

B. get a retainer from an entertainment lawyer ($2500 bucks at the least)

C. Go to networking events

D. Dont try to sell your cd's, they are your promotional flyer now (people love free shit, no matter what it is lol)

E. Be everywhere (soundclick ,sound cloud, sound cone sound cake you get it)

F. BUILD A BRAND. you have to separate yourself from the rest of the pack

G. Approach these execs creatively. never say you do 20 songs a day because all 100 of your songs better be on point

H. Take your time with your music

J. Use the internet to your advantage

and if you think your gonna get rich quick you might want to keep your day job. if your in the music for a quick pay-of you are in for a rude ass awakening. Music money come SLOW AS FUCK

As a aspiring rapper I must say you have to be on your grind at all time, build your brand,go everywhere and post flyers, talk to people about your projects, shoot vid, conduct interviews etc.

Me personally,I'm selling my cds for a dollar a piece..Its been working..Everybody got a dollar to spare

Be yourself. Don't try to be whatever is in style. Take who you are and become the best you. Put the best you behind the best beats that fit you and market yourself like a muthufucka.

Be proffessional, from stage performance to song quality and mixtape/album covers. And quality over quantity when it comes to the music

U can make good money independently...Its a lie that you cant make no dough in rap..U gotta push yourself tho..U cant sit on your ass and expect to get paid

if you wanna get money dont even rap be a producer

if you gonna be rapper

own your masters and don't sign it away for a "lump sum of advance money" or a gold chain or a used luxury car like these other cats
