LMAO. Yo, I swear NevaChange is becoming my favorite poster on this site. Nigga is funny as shit.

But real talk. The Slim Shady LP is probably the weakest of Em's three classics because it's so divisive. It's not for everyone. It even had to grow on me.

Subject matter aside, Em's creative juices cannot be denied and this was the album in which he showed us his disturbed, even morbid, imagination. But it was still executed creatively.

"97 Bonnie & Clyde", in which he enlists the help of Haley to kill Kim...was an example of his genius, in my book. Sick and twisted, sure. But that is what makes the execution so great. It's candid; straightforward; blunt. It shows just how skilled Em is in theatrics...he can portray a story through his music like no other.

The only problem I have is the three Dr. Dre produced singles, which I thought were subpar. Everything else is stellar.

And just to acknowledge something that NevaChange posted before he edited his post...

Eminem has NEVER been outshined on a track. By no one. Ever.

That would just be ludicrous.

You disagree?

I think most people would disagree that Eminem has 3!!! classic albums, lol. I mean let's be real here....you can say personal classic, which is fine. But hip-hop wide, MMLP was his peak with the chaos surrounding it when it came out with the way he openly spoke about his mother and drug abuse, The way KIM was different than what you'd expect on a hip hop album, the videos/singles he chose to release with it "Stan" "The Way I Am", to the actual material on the album being good. Those other two you listed didn't even make a hiccup in the game.

Eeminem doesn't even have one classic in my book. This weird Slim Shady LP album is FULL of filler. That's why it doesn't deserve 5/5 or the "classic" label.

My previous post was actually giving Eminem props more than downplaying him. Did you read it? I'm just being objective and rational. What did my previous post say that you disagree with? What the hell did the Slim Shady LP do for Eminem that it was a classic album? Niggas wasn't even checkin for that album because the first single he had for it made him come off as another whiteboy gimmick. So how is that album a classic? The Eminem show..what makes these albums classic!!?

Just say the content turned you off and you couldn't relate.

That's all you gotta say.

Because both SSLP and TES were critically acclaimed, highly rated albums that sold millions.

Sorry, but the opinion of the industry and 10+ million people >>>> yours.

But it's not the content that precludes the album from being a classic, it's the lack of quality songs and enormous amount of filler: Come On Everybody, My Fault, Bad Meets Evil, Still Don't Give A Fuck, and I'm Shady aren't that good, and If I Had was just an average song that was already on the LP.

So, SSLP isn't hot, Neva?

never heard it.. but i'll take your word for it..

Trust me, when I say an album is overrated, it's true... because I'm one of the few people that can listen to such a corny album like this and still be unbiased.
The truth is, Slim Shady LP is grossly overrated.

I'm not saying they were bad albums...I'm saying WHAT MAKES THEM CLASSIC? If getting good reviews (not rave reviews) and high sales (like vanilla ice or bow wow) is all it takes then Hip-Hop has more classics than I can even name. So being that those albums were met with "Critical Acclaim and Sales"...10 years from now when looking back at classic Hip-Hop albums when they list JayZ - reasonable doubt, blueprint, black album, (maybe AG). Kanye West - College Dropout, Nas - Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic. Eminem is going to be in those talks with both Slim Shady LP and Eminem Show? Gotta be fuckin kidding me man.
