Schooly D was technically the first but the first one that anybody gave a damn about was ice t 6 n the morning

damn every song mentioned is a classic one but PSK inspired 6 in the morning which inspired every other gangsta rap track of the 80's after that so I voted PSK. Damn you took me back...

Schoolly D....everybody knows that. He is without a shadow of a doubt the first artist to do a gangsta record....all the REAL artists will even admit to that. Philly!!!!

Schoolly D also made "Gangster Boogie" in 1984. It talks about selling weed. No label would press the record for him at the time, so he pressed them himself, which is why the labels look different on the records.
