I think it's funny how some of these rappers like Plies idolize Malcolm, as if Malcolm would have agreed with the dumb shit they rap about and the way they dress, act, disrespect women, etc. Notice I said some rappers like Plies, not all rappers. It's the first Plies song I actually listened to more than 5 seconds of. I'd rather listen to Dead Prez, Talib, Mos, and those rappers talk about equality...not that it should matter, but like you said...i guess it has to do with the sincerity in the message...because he is going to go on the next track making himself seem really foolish.

Looking at the message only, separating it from Plies, it's a good message. But, looking at the overall product...i can't really respect it coming from Plies.

plies is slept on. he plays that ignorant goon type for the cameras. He actually speaks clear and coherently in person and comes

across as very educated. He is active in the community as well.

Pretty much, I remember on Cassidy's second album he had a song called "The Message" and I was telling everyone about that it then less than two years later he goes out and shoots someone and is all fucked up in the legal system and It's like, why try making a song sending these messages if you're involved in the same shit that those men you idolize and talk about hated and the other 95% of your music is about how you're a drug dealing thug from project 8 housing like it's something to be proud of.

Side not Mos and Talib need to get back together and make another album.

It's a shame he plays the goon role still though. I understand he did it for the money, but dude is college educated and self made, he could of chose a better path. Even now he has a shitload of money and could drop his gimmick but he won't. I don't like someone preaching something and then turning around and going against everything you just said.

Yea I met Plies at a charity basketball game and couldn't believe it was him. Completely different person from the way he talks to the way he dressed.

he doesn't have too much sense if he running around the streets shooting kats and still pushing drugs...if that's the case.

lol He was a nurse for a while before getting into music, it wasn't until after he got on that he picked up the goon gimmick and ran with it. Plies probably never stole a pack of gum from a quick stop.

One of Cassidys friends and some guy got into a fight at a pharmacy, the other dude got some people and pulled up in a alley way behind Cassidys house and Cass and his people went out shooting according to Cassidys story.

How he only got 11 months is beyond me.

True i mean everyone plays the same deniro movie 20 times in a row.. mutters the ramblings of the character and base their whole life around the facade that he creates. Its not like he ever has a cleard distinction for real life and .. movie character either.. agreed

I think the difference would be that everyone knows an actor is acting and playing a roll. Music is not the movies. In hip-hop where "street cred" and "keeping it real" is supposed to be the fabric of these type of rappers' lyrics, it's very wack imo...not to mention insincere and contradictory. It's not like he is just telling a story in a couple songs. This is the image that he wants his whole career to revolve around and it's a fake image, which makes it worse.
