IMO Faith is believing that simply following someone will result in a great afterlife. Nothing more nothing less.

What exactly is FAITH in religion?

Does this faith have anything to do with the faith I'll make it across a gap of fire while jumping it with a car?

Does this faith = Confidence? Trust?

The bolded is the correct term...the jumping the car across a gap of fire is stupidity and is not faith.

It could apply, if you crash and die, it's stupid. If you have the confidence you'll make it, is that faith?

Could faith also be putting trust into something that doesn't have proof for in the first place?

Faith I think may be a waiver of the reasoning skills. Instead of reasoning if I will crash or not, I just say f*ck it and make the jump, whatever will be will but hope for the best.

The Biblical definition of FAITH: Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the SUBSTANCE OF THINGS hoped for, the evidence of THINGS NOT SEEN.

The basis of the FAITH is: believing in The Most High, believing in His Son, believing in His Word.

Without faith it's impossible to please The Most High, but he also gave us 5 common senses. And trying to use faith to jump a fiery gap shouldn't be confused with common sense unless they're driving KITT or the General Lee (lol)... even if that person has the strongest faith and could've possibly came out of some crazy situations...a situation like that...that's like a person stopping their car on the train tracks and SEES a train moving forward and HEARS the train whistle blow and expects "faith" to get them out of that situation when their SIGHT and HEARING tells them a 80-90 mph moving train is coming and it's a possibility that if they don't move it will kill them INSTANTLY. That's not FAITH it's FOOLISHNESS...plus it takes MATURITY in the Word to know when to use faith and common sense.

This is an real example of using FAITH in a situation: A doctor diagnoses a person with type 2 diabetes. The doctor tells the person they must take medication for it, but his condition can be reversed if he exercises and eat the right foods. If that person follows the Biblical scriptures on healing, praying and fasting, PLUS do what the doctor tells him (exercise and eating right) CONSISTENTLY, then it's a possibly that his diabetes can be non-existent.

I think faith is a bit of trust and hope mixed together without proof or logic needed.

So basically, yeah, putting your trust into something that you're not sure that is real. Basically a mindset.

faith is self control. When you dont believe in something you cant define yourself. It's faith that gives you that intuition to base yourself on morals. without faith your basically all alone. and that can lead you to "self" destruction.

if you dont mind my inquiry, what bought that about? Was it a sudden awakening, or a slow transformation?

Slow transformation I'd say. More so being a believer, reading the bible and not being afraid to question, doubt and research myself. After all that, just seeing the bible for what it is and coming to conclusions. Even more so, watching ridiculous posts by other religious posters (mainly from another site). Just everything in general with religion I guess. I personally think it's a mindset. Many things lol most of my topics started off here with questions then the defending of the faith then again, questions now I'm against it. I'll be staying here for life.

wow. i can understand that. Ive noticed most atheist were believers at some point, dont think ive come across an atheist that was a non believer from the start. and most, like yourr experience, left religion alone due to false teachings. When you start to question things and see that most people dont really know, thats when things start to crumble. guess, im more agnostic, if i had to define it. I cant conclude there is no God, due to alot of spiritual personal things occurring in my life, cant say its God, or not, cant make that call..but, yeah thats a real life changer when you find out things for yourself.
